feedback friday

J habite en france, ou puis je trouver les fournitures?

I love that we got an email in French! This reader lives in France and is wondering where she can buy Project Life. The answer for her, and for all Europeans is HERE. Anyone who lives anywhere outside the U.S. can go HERE to find your closest distributor for Becky Higgins products.

…..

Is there any chance we can purchase the Project Life boxes that the old kits used to come in, to protect the albums when moving?

No, sorry. Those were nice but they’re gone.

…..

Are there any plans to make monthly dividers that are more like the ones from the past kits? I loved the clear dividers with the color designs printed on them.

Yep, we’re working on bringing those back – a set to go with each Project Life edition. But first, we have more of our Scrapbook Dividers coming and those will be available again on amazon in a few weeks. They are neutral and classic and work well with any theme or style.

…..

I’ve been considering Project Life for a couple of years now, and thought I was familiar with the whole thing. But now that I am ready to buy, I don’t see anywhere the details of what is included in the Core Kit. What do the title cards say? Are the journaling cards already in there?

When you click on any of our Core Kits on the Products page, you’ll be linked to their listing on amazon. Here you will see more details and several images of the contents. You will probably also benefit from seeing my posts – What Exactly is in a Core Kit? and Project Life Core Kit: A Closer Look at the Cards. I appreciate your question because I do think it would be good to include more specific information (# of cards, # of sticker sheets, sizes, etc.) on our Amazon listings for the Core Kits. Thank you! We’ll work on that.

…..

I would love to know how you organize your recipes! I would like to make a book of some sort and I’ve been brainstorming. You have such awesome ideas – thought I would ask!

Oh wow. I’m am so not the person to be asking about recipe organization at this very moment. Unfortunately. In fact, thank you for reminding me that I have actually been neglecting the Recipes section of my web site. However, if you haven’t checked that out in a while, it does stand as a wonderful little place that I have collected some of our favorites.

I wish I had a fantastic answer for you and one day – I kinda think I should come up with a great solution since I do love organization and I do love good recipes. But for right now, my recipes are so unorganized. Some are in a cute little recipe book I used to keep up with, some are on the computer, some are scribbled on a piece of paper and shoved in a binder. Some are hiding in a recipe book and itching for me to pay attention and actually make it! So no – I’m sorry I don’t have a great idea. However, I have a very strong feeling that some of your fellow readers will love to chime in with their solutions and favorite recipe-organizing sites.  : )

…..

What is the best way to add the different sized Christmas cards into Project Life?

Great timing on this question, as I’m sure many of you are contemplating – do I throw all the cards away? Do I keep them? If so, what do I do with them? Well if you want to implement them into your album (not necessarily Project Life, but any 12×12 scrapbook) … there are a couple thoughts I have on this: 1) Simply place all the cards you’re keeping in a Big Envelope Page (these will be back in stock in a few weeks if you missed them earlier). Or 2) If you’d like to see them in your album instead of tucking them away, you could simply trim down the cards that are not a perfect fit for the standard pocket sizes … and use any of our Photo Pocket Pages to store and display your cards. In fact, I’d be willing to bet many of the cards would be perfectly fine to trim down to even a 3×4 size.

…..

I know there are a lot of suggestions for a 3×4 punch … Any thoughts on whether you might do this one/think its crazy/etc?

We don’t think it’s crazy. We think it’s brilliant. And we’re working on making that possible.

…..

What size corner rounder should I get so they’re the same size as the corners on the Project Life cards?

Personally, I use THIS one and I’m very pleased with how the rounded corners look, as well as the quality of the tool itself.

…..

My son is 14, and I am 13 years and 9 months behind on scrapbooking. No joke. I’ve made 3 pages and one wasn’t even about him, lol! I’m considering starting Project Life, starting from when he was a baby. I have always been overwhelmed with scrapbook layouts, supplies, etc. Do you think this would work?

Ab. so. lute. ly. I created this for you. You will find it to be incredibly gratifying and liberating when you toss that guilt and pressure out the window and simply start sticking those photos into Photo Pocket Pages, resulting in caught-up albums for your son.

…..

Does anybody have a solution on how to carry out your Project Life while waiting for products to come back in stock? Would love suggestions, as I don’t want to get so far behind.

I would invite anyone who wants to contribute their thoughts, to please do so. My thoughts: Take pictures as you planned to take pictures in 2012 (whether it’s just random/whenever or a photo-a-day approach). Keep the pictures that you know you want to use in a folder on your computer called “Project Life 2012″ … or go ahead and print the pictures you plan to use. Additionally, jot down a few notes to go with your pictures that you don’t want to forget, whether it’s on a note-taking app or in a document on your computer, or handwritten on a note pad. Just keep all your notes in one place.

When those Big Packs of Photo Pocket Pages are back in stock in a few weeks, you’ll be ready to snatch up what you need, drop in those pictures, catch up on your 3×4 journaling cards and be right on track.

Please comment on what is going on with Ziblio. I prepaid for my 2011 book back in March 2011 but they failed to give me the “Prepaid Code”. I have called Ziblio multiple times and emailed them multiple times and no response. I have emailed you separately with no response. I really don’t want to pay twice for my book. I just want to order it since I have finished and paid for it. I am very frustrated and Ziblio doesn’t even answer their phones. It sounds like they are going out of business. I just want my book. Please help as your website gives emails and phone numbers for Ziblio that they don’t respond to.

    • Lesley says:

Wow. I have my 2011 book about 3/4 finished. I’ve been working a few hours on it every day this month, and I hope to be finished ‘soon’! I can’t even imagine losing this book. Surely their unresponsiveness is just an administrative issue though. I won’t panic unless Becky tells me to. ;)

    • I’m so sorry to hear about that! I checked in with Ziblio and it sounds like they got swarmed with an unusually high amount of traffic throughout New Years, which is usually a very slow time for them support-wise. They are still catching up, so you should hear from them soon.

Congratulations on finishing your book! I’m just about done with our 2011 family yearbook and can’t wait to print it!

      • Tami says:

I am also SO frustrated with Ziblio! I have been working really hard this week to finish up my 2011 book so that I can get it printed. I realized after several hours of work that when I click “save” it often says that it is saving but I don’t always get “saved successfully”–sometimes things are saved and lots of times they aren’t. I have probably lost about 8 hours of work! Like most people, I have too much going on in my life to lose 8 hours of work! And, I’ve emailed and called Ziblio and have heard nothing from them. I’m nervous to work on my book anymore if my time is going to be wasted but, like others, I really want to be sure that I can get my book printed. Yes, I’m frustrated that I’ve paid for it and I don’t want to lose that money, but more importantly, I can’t imagine losing nearly a year’s worth of work and memories. Help!

        • Christine says:

I just ordered my book from ziblio, but there is no way to track to order which went out on the 11th. They charged my account for shipping so I know they got they order. Fingers crossed that my book will arrive next week…Does anyone know the usual turnaround time on the ziblio books?

          • Teresa says:

I just got a response from Ziblio today (with the help of Christy @ Becky Higgins Customer Service) and they gave me my Prepaid Code that I needed to order my digital book! I placed my order tonight and am so excited to be receiving my 2nd digital book!!! I am starting my 4th year (3rd digital) and am loving this! Shutterfly is definately a challenge but I am working through it. One huge help would be to have the days of the week as an “embellishment” so that you can just drag the day instead of having to type it out, choose the font, color, and resize. Just a thought. Also having a page layout similar to Ziblio’s with 3 photo slots and 3 journaling cards and another with 4 photo slots and 4 journaling cards would be very helpful for those that want to stay with the photo-a-day ease of premade pages.
Thank you for your help and a great product!!!!

  2. Steffb says:

I am missing page protectors too – I am just using regular 6 horizontal 4×6 pages and slipping the 3x4s where they go in the center – they are staying put just fine till I get the sleeves I want!

    • Emma says:

I’m doing the same thing and it’s working great. It will be easy to transfer the stuff once I get the “real” protectors.

And, really, you could just mount your 3×4 pieces on a piece of 4×6 card stock and call those ones good then switch to the others when they come in.

      • Terri Torrez says:

This us what I’m doing too. I had a few of that size on hand and I bought more. It’s a size that I use often so I didn’t worry about having them leftover when the real ones come in.

  3. Laura Jane says:

Recipe organization is a tough challenge. I’ve come pretty close to conquering it, except for one small part. I use Evernote (free) to keep all my recipes, and it’s working GREAT! There really isn’t a better system. I love that I can tag the notes with multiple so I recipe can be “chicken,” “healthy,” “main dish,” and “crockpot,” so I am easily able to find what I need. Also it’s super easy to use the Evernote clipper in my web browser to super quickly clip a new recipe into my “Recipes To Try” notebook. When I try it, I delete it or move it to my “Tried” notebook. If you have recipes in cookbooks you can either scan, photograph, or simply create a note saying what cookbook and page number it’s on. It’s also handy that I have Evernote on my phone, so I can access all my recipes wherever I am. Super handy at the grocery store when I can’t remember what ingredients are in something. My one hangup is that I haven’t really printed the recipes in a organized fashion, so I always print them out when I’m ready to use them and then throw the paper away and print again when I need the recipe.

  4. Karen says:

I know this is asking alot …. Is there a way for you to put us in touch with one another if someone wants a product that we don’t need or use? I have a couple sets of the monthly dividers that I don’t want. I would sell them for cheap, cheap.

  5. Julie says:

I love feedback Fridays! Thanks so much.

Just wondering – any plans to offer more page protectors? I’d love to see 8×10 and horizonal 8.5×11 sizes!!! These would be so perfect for school photos, certificates, etc. I love all the various pocket page designs as well. This is my first year of Projeect Life and so far I love it!!!

  6. Cindy McDannold says:

My first year of Project Life I stuggled through a daily picture routine. The second year I started by just doing a double spread for each month. As I worked with my album I kept to the monthly double spread concept but added extra pages for the times that I wanted/needed to have extra photo/journaling space.

The true beauty of this system is it’s total flexibility. It is for everyone. There is no right or wrong way. That is where the creativity comes in…do it your own way.

I have introduced Project Life to several “none scrapbook people” and they love it. Once the concept was explained they took it and ran with it. Absolutely perfect.

  7. Alison says:

I’m also wondering if you are going to carry the solid white 3×4 cards again. I wish the cards in Cobalt had a plain back to them instead of the grid or lines. But I *LOVE* the idea of a 3×4 punch. Awesome.

    • We’ve never had solid white cards, but you could be referring to the 3×4 grid cards? Yes – those will be back in stock in February (as indicated on the Products page).

      • Margie S says:

Funny as my suggestion was to make all journaling cards in all kits grid so that they can go horizontal or vertical (vs. just horiz lines for journaling as in the Amber kit). I love having grid on both front and back – I like the versatility.

  8. Anna says:

I just received my Black Signature Binder yesterday, thank you Amazon Prime!
The binder is so amazing in person!
    So handsome!
    Thanks Becky!

  9. Will you ever be sharing any of your PL pages that you are working on? I like to see your ideas too :)

  10. Ang says:

I’m also doing PL without many supplies. Two albums, a P365 and also an album for all my 2011 pics. It’s frustrating, because I’ve gotten myself so excited about the whole thing and I’m not very patient, but I’m doing whatever I can to keep my momentum while I wait. AND just yesterday I got a black signature binder and design C & F plastics. It just so happened that my first batch of pics arrived from winkflash as well!

Last week I cleaned out and organized my craft space. I pulled out some supplies (stamps, corner rounder, etc.) that will obviously work well in my PL albums and put them on one shelf. I’ve been taking and editing my pics every day for P365 and I ordered all my 2011 pics. This week I dug through any box that might have “stuff” collected from 2011. I’ve decided to totally ignore 2010 and all the past years of stuff that have sat in boxes. I’ll get to those but for now I’m putting a stop to adding to my backlog and taking control! Yesterday I put all my 2011 pics & stuff in chronological order. Now I’m still a little stuck waiting on the 3×4 grid cards (and Design A plastics) BUT I do have a number of printable cards I can play with or I’m going to use scrap paper to hold the place of the journaling cards for now.

For P365 I’ve been keeping up with my pics, editing, cropping them, etc. I use a simple MS Notepad file where I type in my notes/journaling for each pic/day. I name it simply week 1, 2, etc. and keep it in the same folder as that week’s pics. When I’m ready to get journaling onto the 3×4 cards I can easily cut & paste into photoshop since notepad doesn’t use any formatting. I’ve taken screen shots from facebook on my iPhone and saved & cropped those too.

Because I’m going to be sending out each week’s pics to winkflash I know I’m going to always be at least a week behind but the delay in getting some of my supplies means that I’ll have plenty to work on and I probably won’t even notice that I’m waiting to get the next week’s pics in the mail.

I’ve also been pinning all kinds of ideas on my pinterest board for PL. Getting tips on printing, cropping, etc. and inspiration from other’s pages keeps my excited for when I can get going on my own pages.

PS: I LOVE THE IDEA OF A 3×4 PUNCH… would buy that in a heartbeat!!! :)

  11. Canadian Cathy says:

    One comment and one question:
For what to do with old Christmas cards, check these Christmas card books (December 28):
    http://eighteen25.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2012-01-03T06:30:00-08:00&max-results=12

    One question:
Have you ever considered having the journal cards in one 8 1/2 X 11 sheet withe perforated edges. That way you could just slide it in your printer and use a template to print it out each week. (I know there is the tutorial on how to print out, but this would be even easier).

  12. Silvia Diaz says:

Just wanted to chime in and let you know I’d totally be down with a 3×4 punch. :) Thanks!

  13. Wendy says:

Curious if you can give us yet any insight on all our Shutterfly questions? The more time that is passing has me feeling like maybe you too have realized this may not in fact be the best option for picture a day. Oh I hope not, just my excitement is fading away and I’ve gotten so frustrated trying to make it work. I feel like I’m spinning my wheels on it.

    • I’m sorry your exciting is starting to fade. I have a giant post all about Shutterfly coming on Monday. It has been a lot of work to pull it all together because there is so much I want to share and clarify and explain. It’s a wonderful way to keep memories!

  14. Tracy J says:

First off, I love Project Life!! Thank You, Becky.

I keep all my gathered photos, journaling, notes, ephemra, etc. in a gallon size plastic bag labeled
with the week #. Then I can just drop it all into the pages as I have time.

    I would love a 3×4 punch.

    Thanks!

  15. Sally patella says:

So curious about all the digital shutter fly questions floating out there. I’ve been waiting with bated breath for your promised feedback. I’m in limbo now trying to decide what to do. I mirror many of the Lready expressed concerns.

    • As I mentioned above, big giant Shutterfly post coming on Monday. Thank you for your patience. I don’t mean to make anyone “wait” but I have so many balls in the air; I’m sure most of you can relate.

  16. Tiffani Paini says:

I just wanted to thank you for all of your hard work! You continue to amaze me with how available you are to all of your customers! You rock!

I, like many others, would gobble up that 3×4 punch also! What a fabulous idea!

  17. Katie says:

Just wanted to say to the woman who has 13 years of scrapping ahead of her: DO IT! I fell 6 months behind on PL this past year and was so mad at myself. I had all the photos on my computer though, so I decided to just do what I could with them. I ended up catching up in ONE day and I love my 2011 PL! I obviously went the uber simple route, and the first 6 months of my album have a photo for each day, but the second half sometimes only has a two page spread per month. I don’t care. I am SO glad I just dove in and did it.

I think the hardest, most time consuming part of doing 13 years of PL would be getting the photos organized. Once that is done, it’s a snap! I honestly think you could do the entire 13 years in a few weeks if you really tried!

    • Michelle Mauk says:

Hi Katie, that’s me! I have a lot of pics up to about age 6 organized. Unfortunately most photos from then on areeitheron Kodak Gallery or still on an SD card. I really think this is the right product for me. Now just to take the leap and buy it. That’s the hardest part for me, getting started. I’m so afraid I will ruin a photo or scrapbook product that I don’t do anything at all. I. Have lots of scrapbook supplies from 1998 to the present that I have been giving to my 6 year old niece or craft projects. :-) Thank you so much for your encouragement. :-)

      • Margie S says:

Why not buy one pack of page protectors, and one pack of grid journaling cards and then if you keep up with it for a month (or other goal that will mean for you, you are going through with it) and then reward yourself with more product?

  18. Valerie says:

I, too, keep checking the website for the Shutterfly information. I am confused since the format is so different from the hard copy PL and there are so few pages included. It seems like the book will be very expensive and, if we keep reusing the formatted pages, that it will be very repetitive. Maybe I am missing some key points, which is why I’d love to have the digital PL information.

  19. Taylor says:

about the recipe question… I do something so simple but i love it! I just have a large cute binder with 12 dividers… beverages, appetizers, main courses, sides, desserts… etc and I have 8×12 page protectors and print out the recipes and throw them all in there, i also tear out or magazines and put those in there too! it protects when you are coking and is easy to just take one recipe out at a time!

    • hannahk says:

I have something similar and rather lovely from Russell and Hazel (recipe binder set). I’ve also copied pages from books which have just a few dishes that interest me (and sold the books ~ keeping only those that we use all the time). Russell and Hazel also has a lovely mini binder as a card keeper, which neatly stores cards so you can flip the book into a bookstand so you can reference as you cook!

  20. Melissa says:

If any of you are waiting on Design A and you are so inclined, you could make your own Design A protectors from Design C (the 6 4×6 slots). Measure 3.125 inches from the side seam and draw a line in the middle row pocket. Do the same thing for the pocket on the outer edge. Then sew on the line you drew. You will end up with 2 4×6 pockets on the top, 4 3×4 pockets in the middle and 2 4×6 pockets on the bottom. I now have 7 weeks of Design A protectors (I had a few lying around at home, plus the 10 that come in the package).

  21. Tracey says:

I am waiting for my first PL kit to come in the mail. So I’m a newbie! I have been searching all over the internet and this site to find out what the easiest way is to print (either at a lab or home) the 3×4 size photo. I do not have Photoshop and I am a Mac user. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

  22. First of all I just want to thank you for the wealth of ideas you continue to give through your blog and all the questions you answer. What other company does that???? We are SO spoiled.

Also I am absolutely getting my photos organized now which is due to your system. I started in mid-NOV and went back and did all of 2011. I love it and already completed the entire year. I am already loving being current for 2012. I do not do the 365 approach but plan to print pics at then end of each month while saving various scraps, tags etc and keeping track of my journaling on my notes app. (Idea given on one of the links from your posts).

I also LOVED the idea of using the number stickers for lists, since I again don’t do the daily 365 thing. I would love to hear whether or not you or others have ideas for the Sun-Sat stickers. I am guessing there is something obvious that I am not thinking of.

Speaking of “not thinking” sorry if this comment is ALL OVER THE PLACE but my sweet almost 5 year old twins are interrupting me every 5 seconds and my 18 month old is up from her morning nap!!!! See THIS IS WHY PL works for me. It has to take VERY LITTLE thought and time. AHHH! :)

  23. Jennie says:

Thanks SO much for answering the corner rounder question! Yay! Have a great weekend!

  24. Pam abbott says:

I have the ultimate solution for recipe organization….Microsoft OneNote. It is available on an apple platform too! It offers the ability to input and organize your own as well as “clip” them electronically. I love the program. My mom wanted a recipe program for Christmas and we bought this for her instead. She uses it for just her recipes. The best part is that they are on her skydrive so she can load recipes from her laptop, pc,iPhone and iPad and my bother and I have access to them from our own homes. We can also add to the recipe collection! Totally Awesome! I use the program for much more than just my recipes. It truly is a virtual notebook!

  25. Michelle says:

OMG OMG OMG!!! A 3×4 punch? Wow! That would make project life even simpler. I am so excited, great idea!

  26. Dawn Salisbury says:

A 3×4 punch would be great…I’d gobble it up too!!
Becky..you are amazing!! Great products and great customer service…we all love you!
BTW I received my 3 binders today…OH MY!! I’m in love with them….such fast shipping…I order them yesterday and they are here today!..WOW!!..Thanks!

  27. Regarding keeping track of your daily happenings when waiting for your products or for those busy days that you just need to quick jot it down, I’ve used a website called “Oh Life” (www.ohlife.com) for the past year to keep track of what I do. They send you an email every day at the time you schedule, you hit reply, type your information and send it off, just like you do for any other email! It’s super easy and since most people check their email every day, it makes the most sense to have it delivered that way. You can have it send daily if you wish. You can then access your safe and secure online journal when you need to see what you did on a particular day.

  28. For those of you who are still old school (I am and proud of it!) and have a Sizzix available, the inside of the frames are approximately 3 x 4. They fit very nicely into the smaller openings of the page protectors, and are ever-so-slightly bigger than the cards provided in the Project Life kits. You can use a corner rounder if you wish to have them look the same as the cards. :)

  29. Tara says:

Hey Becky, I love all the stuff you make but one of my favourite things were the circle chipboard month thingies with brads that you included in your creating keepsakes baby kit. They are fabulous and super versatile. Is there any chance you could maybe think about making these again? I think they would work perfectly for Project Life and for people wanting to make baby albums. You could also do ‘grade’ ones for the school kits and even possibly year ones. I just LOVE them. Thanks.

  30. Kristen says:

PUNCH Please! Love that idea…. :)

  31. Kristen says:

Oh thank you Susan for the ohlife.com tip. Going to check it out!

  32. Melissa S. says:

This is my first time trying Project Life after almost 20 years of traditional scrapbooking…and falling VERY far behind. I am very excited about PL! I also would love a 3X4 punch!!

As far as the question on the blog about proceeding on PL without the supplies, I would suggest using Project Life Printables that Becky tweeted about the other day. Each style of page protector is available as a download that can be printed. Here is the link to the post on Marcy’s website: http://www.marcypenner.com/?p=6911
This would allow you to planthe layouts for each week including the pictures sizes you want, how many journal cards needed, even record the journaling, etc while waiting for the products to become available again. Then all you would have to do was pop everything into page protectors following your page plans. I would suggest reading the comments on that post…there were several good ideas.

  33. Michelle says:

I guess perhaps this goes without saying, but I have to anyway… ;) I do hope that the card punch you talked about will be the same exact size as the cards in the kit, so that is 2.87 x 4…not just 3×4. An exact-sized punch would be the beauty of a punch! :) I’d buy it!

  34. Jo Fernandes says:

Oooooh! 3×4 punch please!!!!! Would love one of those!!! Wonder how long it would take to produce from now???!!

  35. Jenny says:

Oh a 3×4 punch would be wonderful! I am from Germany and I have been wanting to do PL ever since it started. But it was to pricey to get it here. This year I thought oh what the scrap, it’ll be worth it! It’s just soooo long til March. Right now I am doing my kind of PL using We R memories 6 horizontal page protector. Can’t wait to switch!!
Does anyone know if Becky’s protectors will fit in an American Craft album? I still have a few here and want to use them first!
As organizing is concerned all my supplies are in a little box. I take pictures with my DSLR and iPhone and upload them to my computer on sunday evening and put it alongside with a regular WORD document of mostly Facebook statuses and things that happend that week in a simple folder labeled “week 1″ I keep memorabilia in a bigger mail envelope also labeled with the week. When I have time I sort out the pictures, edit them, write something down for each day and print the pictures and text on index cards. Last but not least I “decorate”. Everything is a single step on mostly a different day. I am a little behind on the fun stuff, the as I call it decorating. But right now I am studying for my nursing exam which will be in three weeks so time is very scarce but I will have everything ready when my life gets back to normal. Just looking back at about two months is soooo cool! Thank you Becky for having this cool idea and encouraging all of us with your creativity. You are so passionate about what you’re doing it’s contagious!
For all of you I’d like to encourage you to also collect videos for project life. I keep a folder of funny youtube videos or short clips I filmed with my phone and will be either putting it all on a DVD or a flash drive (depending on the size) which I will be putting in my PL Album at the end of the year.

    • Stacey Kirasic says:

I did my whole year last year with the we r memory keepers protectors, was a bit hard co-ordinating products & cutting journalling cards but definitely worth it. My whole family love looking through the album. Becky’s page protectors do fit in the American Craft albums.
I was feeling really down last night & couldn’t sleep so I got up & read my 2011 from cover to cover, looking back on the highs & lows of the year, seeing the love my daughter’s share helped me forget the day of squabbling & helped me focus on the joy of my family.
This year I have got the Clementine & oh I love love love it! I know I will be able to *keep up* much easier this year.

Would you ever consider developing a digital calendar template we could use to help us organize/plan our PL pages. For example, I love the concpet of shuttercal, but I don’t like the fact that my photos aren’t private. I would love to see a basic calendar templete that I could use month after month. Thanks!

Incorporating Christmas Cards in Project Life: http://youtu.be/aURuW56OCfE

Recipe Organization: Microsoft One Note has been a life savor

Waiting for Project Life to be in stock: I use the Evernote App (also online at http://www.evernote.com/) I usually will record a voice message while driving to work.. talk about what has happened over the past couple of days. Then, when I have a free minute, I listen to my recording and will either type it up in a word document or right into evernote. When my pictures are printed, I just open evernote and make some journaling notes :) \

    Hope that helps some people!

I keep seeing layouts where people cut a page protector, but what do you do with the rest of it? I feel like that would be wasting the rest of the protector. Any tips on adding holes to the rest of it, or how to use the rest of it in a layout? Just finished my first layout, super excited that it was so easy and quick :)

I just wanted to throw out a comment about recipe organization. I use tastebook.com for all our family’s favorites that I use over and over again. I type in family recipes and also download any from the online resources e.g. Betty Crocker. Then I print them all in a customized book. One can continue to add recipes to the book as needed. It’s so slick because everything is professionally printed on thick cardstock and a nice hard-bound book. It’s pretty awesome.

I cannot even begin to thank you for all of your wonderful products and all of the work you do!! I am using your kits for my girls’ childhood albums, and I got my oldest daughter’s whole 2nd year finished in just 3 months. She constantly asks to look at her scrapbook now!
I’ve gotten pretty fast at cropping down my pictures and paper into a 3×4 size, but I would LOVE a punch!!

  41. Leanne Butler says:

I would so love the punch the same size as the cards! I always re-punch the corners of the journal cards to match the ones on my photos because well they HAVE to be the same!!!! The corner rounders are never exact as the cards (I use the same one as you)….I’d be first in line for the punch. thanks again loving year 2 of project life…

Because I live in the Netherlands and we have to wait untill februari and March to get the complete PL, I am working with the digital version of Clementine.
I already printed some of the journalingcards, title and fillerscards. And it works great. I even made some digital pages. I love it!!
I am already behind with the PL album for my youngest little girl and I didn’t want that to happen with PL 2012.
And in the mean time I collect everything and put it in a big envelop. And I mark everything with a date.

    Sandra :)

I’m looking to upgrade my 4 year old Canon Powershot camera. I like that it’s small and fits in my purse wherever I go. Your brother sometimes offers technical advice. Was wondering what he/you recommend on the market right now, or is everyone just using smart phones these days?

    Thanks.

  44. Tara says:

Also 5x7s vertical and horizontal would be amazing… If only would have the moon we ask for! Keep up the amazing work Becky and I love reading FBF!!!!

  45. Megan says:

Love the idea of a punch and the dividers that match the kits. I would definitely by both! Thanks for keeping us updated!

  46. I just started Project Life this year and I’m loving it! I don’t have the Design A pages yet either so for now I am just using some 12×12 4×6 photo pages that I have and putting the cards two to a pocket in the center row. They wiggle around a bit but it doesn’t bother me because I know I’ll be changing them soon. It’s been a really nice solution for me because I’m so visual and I like to see how things are going to look.
    Hope this helps someone! :)

Will project life ever be available in another size besides 12×12?

  48. Luannw says:

Keeping up with out a kit-
keep a file with the pictures change the name to the date, or put the date on them with PSE if you know how. Then keep a notebook or Word/Pages file with your daily thoughts about the pictures. when the kit comes print and drop them in! If you want to hand write you already have all the thinking done for you!

  49. Luannw says:

Any idea about when the grid cards/ filler cards (I forgot what they are called,) will be available at JessicaSprague.com.

I am loving Digi project life thanks for teaming up with Jessica!

For recipe organization, I tried several recipe software packages and picked Living Cookbook software. You can get it direct from their site or from Amazon. You can enter traditional recipes by typing or copying and pasting. And if you use Firefox, you can get a free add-on (recipefox) that lets you do a one=click on most of the popular recipe sites, and it automatically puts the title, ingredients, instructions, etc. for the recipe in the right spot in the software!! You can use the software on your computer and do searches, and you can also print your own books at home or order them (I haven’t done that yet, but plan to). You can even add pictures to it.

  51. Kim says:

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this already…I am waiting for Design A to come back in stock as well, but there’s no way I wanted to just take my pictures and wait for them to come in. First of all, I’m excited to get started and secondly, I just felt like that was the wrong foot to start off on. Like I would be behind before I even got started, if that makes any sense. So I went to Archiver’s and got some other divided page protectors. You can find them on Amazon too. It’s nice to see what is on hand in my local scrapbooking stores in case I need them for the future as well.

  52. This is what I’m going about my recipes. I started putting them into a binder with dividers and sheet protectors. The dividers have pockets in them so you can put the recipes you want to try in them. The only problem was that I have a clip under my cabinets that hold my recipe while I make it. The 8 1/2 x 11 sheet was to big and also I wanted pictures to go with the recipes. I changed to a photo album for 4 X 6 with two spots per page. I type the recipe on a 4 X 6 recipe card template on the internet( just goggle and you can find a lot of the sites that have them) and print and cut the cards out. I put the recipe on the top spot and the picture of the food in the bottom spot. I also added removable tabs for the categories. I am still going to keep my binder for the recipes that I want to try. If it’s good I will add it to my photo album with the picture. I might even add the name of the recipe to the picture in photoshop. I hope this will help.

  53. Marilyn says:

Recipe Organization: A few years ago I made a recipe album for my daughter when she got married using a combination of divided page protectors and regular pp in an 8 1/2 x 11 WRM Keepers album. I used premade black and cream 4 x 6 recipe cards handwritten with her favorite recipes and also printed out some on 8 1/2 x 11 co-ordinating cardstock. I decorated the empty spaces with patterned paper. The handwritten cards are important as when my mom, grandma and aunt have passed away, the writing reminds me of them and when I make their recipes, it brings me closer to them. She has since reminded me of making one for myself, with stories attached.

  54. Cristina says:

    Thank you for the labels!

This is my 4th year on Project 365/Project Life I think I am running out of ideas for photos. I know you post ideas on Facebook, do you have a list that I can print out for those days I am stuck. Thank you

while waiting for product…I got a planner from the dollar tree, cheap and easy write down the hi-lites of my day in it, I also use the 365 app on my i-touch, it allows you to apply your picture on a calendar, but i definitely suggest writing it down somewhere, I cant believe how easy it is to forget what happened yesterday. enjoy!!!!

We received our this week, black and Clementine binders, plus the Clementine and Cobalt core kits. These are for my dc’s books (one boy, one girl). Anyway, when I showed them to my dc (ages 9 & 7) they both loved them and even said they wanted to do them themselves. My mom came a little later in the day, and my dd said, “Granny, do you want to see my special album that’s going to be about me?” Love it!!!

  58. Allison says:

Love all your products!! Thanks for answering the questions we’re all wondering about! I have used Project Life products in a picture-a-day format the last two years, but was going to use them to start catching up on my kids albums this year. I’m wondering what your idea and plan is for the childhood products coming out later this year. I would hate to get going, and then wish I had waited for the new stuff. At this point, what’s a few more months to wait? :) Will it be a new kit in Project Life format, or something completely different?

  59. Jane says:

And of coarse Croatia is not on the list of international countries that Amazon will ship too!

I actually have my PL journaling in 2 places. I have discovered that journaling it daily helps me when I get ehind, bu I’m never gonna be that gal that has a little PL travel kit, and written journals don’t work for me. On the days I use a pic from my iPhone, I open Cozi (loving this online planner that all 5 of us can use) and go to the journaling section. I upload the picture to that day’s journal entry then type out exactly what I will want my journaling to say. Then I cut and paste it and place it into my PL 2012 album on my FB page with the same picture. Several friends have since seen my ideas and have started their own PL. Finally, I put that picture into a file in my Snapfish account so I have I ready to be printed whenever I’m ready. If the picture is on my DSLR, I go ahead and do the journalling in Cozi, making a note of what series of pictures I want to choose from to make it easier on me later.

I started working on a Project Life of my niece that was born in Sept. 2011. When my mom, sister and sister in law saw it they wanted one too. So needless to say I am working on 4 at one time. How I keep things organized when I run out of supplies or life gets to busy.
    1. I save each picture to project 365 on my Iphone.
    2. Journaling: My niece lives in Denver and I live in NW Arkansas so we text ALOT!! I save those on my phone and refer back when I journal.
    3. I only print pictures when I can get a good deal since I am doing every thing x4. when I bring my pix home I sort by week and store in a coupon caddy until Im ready to work on my books.

  62. Alison says:

I love that you take so much time to answer everyone’s qu’s Becky. Thanks.
Is anyone reading this able to tell me the dimensions of the PL pocket pages? I am wondering if I have a binder with the following dimensions if the Project Life pocket pages will fit in it….

Binder has 3 D rings which are 11 cm apart.

The sheets that fit inside the album have a page size of 31cm x 31 cm + the section in which the holes are located for the D rings.
The D ring holes on the spine of the plast sheet are spaced 11 cm apart starting at 4.5 cm (from edge), then 15.5cm and then 26.5 cm

If anyone could help me with this I would be sooooooo grateful as I am very eager to purchase pocket pages (have already purchased a core kit) but want to make sure it will all fit before taking the plunge. Thanks :)

    Hi Becky!

Any news on when the new kits will be available in Europe? It’s been saying “early 2012″ for quite some time now… And for me (and I guess for everybode else that’s waiting…!) there’s a big difference btw January and March… ;0)

    Love from Sweden

I love the new designs that are out – and I can’t wait to fill up my cart at amazon when they are back in stock. I got behind in September, caught up in December, and now almost 200 photos are waiting for happy little homes. :)

I would LOVE if there was a design that incorporated 4×4 pockets for instagram pics. It seems like that’s all I’m taking lately. :)

  65. Andrea g says:

I literally sat down at the computer after reading this and made a book for 2011. I’m amazed that I could do it in a few hours. Granted I didn’t play to much with the layouts or stickers other than adding a few extras or changing the picture number on a few pages. I was also amazed at how few photos I take now that my boys are older, really only event type photos so I’m determined to work on that this year. But thank you for the shutterfly book.
PS Since I only had 24 pages and they’re running a discount now my 12×12 book is less than $50
