happy customer appreciation day!

National Scrapbooking Day is celebrated this weekend and this feels like the perfect time to say – thank YOU. All of you! I say we call this Customer Appreciation Day around here at Becky Higgins LLC!

…..

Whether you buy 3 of everything we make, or you’re just getting started with our products, or you simply like to read my blog and haven’t yet spent a dime on anything we make … WE LOVE YOU. We appreciate you. “Thank you for your business” – sure! But more than that, THANK YOU for embracing the idea that cultivating a good life and recording it is a joyful way to live life.

Scrapbooking … memory-keeping … photo journalism … story-telling … Project Lifeing … call it what you want. It’s simply awesome. I’m grateful to be a part of it, and I sure as heck am grateful you’re in this as well. I hope you’re celebrating your hobby this weekend!

{ amazon }

In honor of National Scrapbooking Day – which is celebrated the first Saturday in May (that would be tomorrow) – you know we have a freshly and fully stocked supply of all existing Page Protectors, Photo Pocket Pages, and other plastic accessories for scrapbooking and Project Life.

We also put all of our 12×12 Cardstock on sale at 50% off. Incidentally, you guys did SO much shopping yesterday that 2 things happened:

1. Our products are on Amazon’s Best Sellers List (scrapbooking category) – 18 out of the top 20 products at the moment. It’s updated hourly. We have 12 of the top 20 Best Sellers in the entire Arts, Crafts, and Sewing category right now too. Rock on.

2. Amazon noticed a crazy amount of sales on cardstock that were changed to 50% of our regular price. Keeping a watchful eye, they contacted us late last night out of concern that something may not be right, so they froze sales on those 4 items. Yikes. We immediately notified them that the 50% off was absolutely intentional and they promised to unlock that freeze ASAP. At the time I’m publishing this post, all cardstock says “currently unavailable” but we do have some left (not much), so check back soon. I just wanted to explain what was going on because I know many of you are still hoping to snatch up more cardstock. At $3.99 for a 24-pack of super fun papers – you don’t want to miss out, and I don’t blame you.

***UPDATED over the weekend: The technical issue has been resolved. Sales have now resumed. Turquoise Cardstock Collection is sold out … Amber is just about gone … but we have some Cobalt & Clementine left in stock. Get it while it lasts!

…..

{ winners }

I haven’t forgotten to announce our 2 winners from Wednesday’s print art giveaway. Congratulations to Michelle L. in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Nicky in Okotoks, Alberta, Canada! Email Kristina and she’ll hook you up with a darling piece of print art!

{ morning conversation }

Before I sign off, I have to share a little of our conversation on the way to school this morning. I thought it’d be fun to ask the kids about their perspective on scrapbooking. It went a little something like this (I actually recorded + transcribed it because I’m geeky like that).

Me: Hey Claire, what is scrapbooking?

Claire: Scrapbooking is where you remember stuff from the olden days and when I’m like 10 – um, we … I will remember when I was like zero, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine.

Me: Awesome! So that’s what scrapbooking is?

Claire: Yeah, that’s what I think.

Me: Porter, what is scrapbooking to you? What does it mean?

Porter: Um, I think scrapbooking means you take a picture, easily slip it in a binder, and – pretend it’s been a couple of years. You can go back and look at that picture or else you don’t know what to do with the picture and you could maybe throw it away and forget what you look like and what things you did when you were a younger age. That’s what I think scrapbooking is.

Me: So it helps is to remember? Why do you think it’s important to remember stuff?

Porter: Uh, I have no clue. Goodbye.

(laughter)

Me: Do you think it’s cool that Mommy does scrapbooks?

Porter: Yeah.

Me: What’s your favorite part about it?

Porter: That we get free scrapbooks.

(Oh, for crying out-loud.)

Me: Claire, what’s your favorite part about scrapbooking?

Porter: (chiming in again) That we don’t have to pay for scrapbooks! We don’t have to buy it on Amazon; we just have it. (Can you tell who our money-conscience child is?)

Me: Claire, what’s one of your favorite things about Mom scrapbooking?

Claire: That we could remember stuff. That (enter silly accent) – we could poop in our pants. (I gave her “the look” for that comment) … And throw up on Dad’s head.

Me: You remember when you did that? How?

Claire: Because of the scrapbook.

Me: What’s one of the funny moments from your scrapbook, Porter?

Porter: When I was born my legs were like – sticking up. (He was breech for a while and they stayed like this for several days after his birth!) … and I was really small, but now I’m really huge. I mean I’m really tall.

Mom: Claire, what about you? What’s one of your favorite memories from your scrapbook – besides spitting up on Dad’s head?

Claire: Um, also when we jumped on Dad … in our pajamas.

Mom: Oh, yeah! That’s one of my favorite memories too.

…..

I hope you’ll take a moment to ponder why you do this, why memory-keeping is important to you – and even, if you dare, ask your family about their view on scrapbooking. You just may receive a little bit of insight that will validate what your doing … or motivate you to look at the it a little differently. May you feel inspired to approach memory-keeping in a way that allows you to LIVE your life more fully.

I tried ordering Clemintine cardstock yesterday and it said it was out of stock. Is that accurate or part of the freeze amazon did? Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to get such a fantastic and amazing deal :) You’re the best!!!

    • We still have Clementine Cardstock but it says “currently unavailable”. I’m so bummed Amazon put a freeze on it – and ALL 4 cardstock collections – but please check back.

  7. Melissa says:

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how come my order hadn’t shipped out yet (most of the time, since I’ve got Prime my stuff ships same day).

Also, LOVE that conversation and thank you for sharing a few of your family photos with us. I remember in one of your posts how you keep your albums private now, but I think it’s awesome that you’re sharing some of it with us. It is nice to see how you use your own products! :)

  8. Brooke says:

    Awesome conversation with your kids.

At Kindy this past week the teacher asked my son’s class what they wanted to learn about. They are studying sea creatures, so many answers were “turtles, sharks, etc.”. My son answered “cameras”. Of course! Because my son’s Kindy is so awesome they will be learning about cameras in a couple of weeks!! And I wonder whose Mummy is doing PL?!

  9. Karen says:

Hi Becky, do you have any idea when Amazon is going to update the cardstock to “In Stock”? I think it’s been four hours or so since you posted that there is still some available and to check back soon … sorry to bug but just getting anxious cuz I really, really want some.

  10. Kelly Fergie says:

Guess what my POTD is today!!!! That’s right a screen shot of your blog with my glamour shot (2nd last one) featured on it!!! Becky and team you just made my day (and it’s not yet 9am in Melbourne Australia!!) :)
PS loving the convo with the kids :)

  11. Betty says:

I have tears of laughter reading the kids comments, especially Clare’s. Kids are just the very best. x
Oh and my daughter and I are in your pic above, we high fived on that one, she thinks your a bit of a celebrity. Thanks for Project Life x a trillion.

    Betty

  12. Patti Mats says:

Cardstock was in my cart, ran off to pick up kids, no more cardstock. : ( Very sad.
I will keep checking in hopes it is available. Boo….

  13. Courtney says:

My goodness this made me laugh! Thanks :)

  14. G says:

Just want to thank you for a great product. I have been afraid to do anything since you announced that the freeze would be lifted and more card stock would be available. I am so happy to have been successful to place my order. We lost 6 years of photos from our hard drive after moving them there because our computer broke. I am just sick about it, so I don’t want to wait another minute to get the photos I still have in some project life books.

  15. Kelly says:

Oh, thank you for the laugh! Laugh out loud, funny! KIDS ROCK!!! I would love to go give mine a hug and kiss right now but they’re sleeping, and for goodness’ sake, I’m not going to wake them! :)

  16. young c says:

What a cute morning conversation! I’ll have to ask my husband the same question. :)

  17. Amanda says:

I screamed out loud when I saw my picture up on your blog! I completely believe in your scrapbooking system, and it has made such an impact in my life that I couldn’t imagine going back. Love everyone who makes this possible.

  18. Erika B says:

Happy National Scrapbooking Day, Becky. Just took the plunge & ordered my cobalt Project Life set the other day. Can hardly wait for it to arrive! I’m inspired & can’t wait to start working on it!

  19. Leah says:

Thank you for sharing the conversation with your kiddos. I am going to try that too! I have to say, I can totally relate to Claire’s “potty talk” comment – I have a 3 year old and 6 year old, and anywhere they can sneak in a “potty talk” word or sentence they do :) . You just never know when it will happen ;) .

You are amazing! Thanks for inspiring, creating, and just being you!

  20. Ang says:

LOL!!! There was a time when it seemed like I’d never stop hearing about poop!! (Thankfully it did go away.) Love the conversation with the kids, I chuckled out loud and anytime you can laugh is priceless!! I have resisted buying a core kit b/c part of my plan was that PL was finally going to get me to use my stash (along w/PL plastics, PL binder & PL grid cards) and it has!! BUT I do really like the designs, especially Clementine. So this was a VERY cool sale. I was bummed when I thought I lost my chance at the cardstock yesterday but today I got it! Yay! So thank you and happy NSD!!!

  21. Michelle L. says:

    Becky,
I enter contests all the time (literally… tons of them, every day…. for years!) and have never won anything, UNTIL TODAY! My heart skipped a beat when I saw that I won a print. I can’t believe it! I couldn’t be more thrilled because this month’s project is finishing up the nursery for our baby who is arriving very soon. Thank you a thousand times over for offering this chance to win! You made my day! (Maybe my week?? My month???) :)
    So very delighted and thankful!

  22. Michele says:

Wow you’re posting on your kid’s view from you scrapbooking, is awe-inspiring AND emotional for me. Ha! yes tears welled up but it’s moments like these to cherish so much more. I need to definitely ask my son these types of questions …. my daughter is so young but when she’s old enough I’ll be asking her as well. Thank you Becky for this! <3

  23. Julie says:

Ha! I don’t have kids….but THAT was hysterical.

    thanks for the laugh
    Julie

  24. Lisa W. says:

The interview was awesome…LOVE this. Do ya not love the kids perspective:) I ordered some of that yummy cardstock…THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Scrapping!!!

  25. Sherrie says:

Went right over to Amazon to get what I needed now. And can’t wait for the July additions! Love your blog!! Thanks!!

  26. Heather says:

Love, love, love seeing some of your “traditional” scrapbook pages. For those of us who still scrapbook “old school” — we love to see (and copy!) your layouts.
