live video chat this morning.

Hi friends. This morning I’ll be doing a live video chat via Big Picture Classes – assuming I do things right technically on my end, that is.  ; )

If you’re available to join us at 9:00am Pacific Time – I’d love to see you there! Some of you might know that I’m going to be teaching an online class in the last quarter of 2012. I’m in the early stages of developing content for my premier 12-week class called Project Real Life, where I hope to provide plenty of inspiration for cultivating a good life and recording it. Stacy Julian’s vision is for me to share bits of my own life. Between Stacy and her team and myself, we have ideas floating around, a vision of what this will look like, and we’ve had some great brainstorming.

But mostly – I want to hear from YOU. I want to know what you want out of the class, and even perhaps some specific ideas of what you’d like to see – related to Project Life or not at all.

And that’s why we’re having the live chat this morning. I will happily gather your ideas and suggestions and even answer some of your questions. We’ll see how much we can cram into 45 minutes.

If you are already a member of the Project Life Community at Big Picture Classes:
Simply login to your account at Big Picture Classes, and enter the Project Life Community classroom, and click on the “Chat” page to view the live feed.

If you’re NOT a member of the Project Life Community:
It’s completely free to join!
Create an account at Big Picture Classes (http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/register.php).
Once you’ve created an account you can enroll in the Project Life Community (http://www.bigpictureclasses.com/projectlife.php).
Once you are a member of the Community, simply login to your account at Big Picture Classes, and enter the Project Life Community classroom, and click on the “Chat” page to view the live feed.

Hope to see you there!

…..

Coming up later today: The monthly Creative Team post where I’ll share snippets of Project Life inspiration from at least a dozen women who are documenting life and inspiring others to do so too. Be prepared to be inspired.

…..

Added later in the day: Missed the live video chat? No problem. Here you go! Just skip the first 4 minutes – seriously. Unless you find it fascinating to watch me talking on the phone with Kayce as we work through technical issues.  : )

  2. LeAnne B says:

Thanks Becky! I was really looking forward to this but I couldn’t get the video feed to work until the last 10 minutes. Is the video going to be available later for viewing?

  3. rebecca says:

Thanks for the chat! I look forward to hearing more and more about the upcoming kits as well as your upcoming class. Thanks for taking time out of your busy day!

  4. Becky,

Thank you for chatting with us today!

  5. Sheryl Pyle says:

Thank you for all the information. Your brain must be drained after all of that. It was great and
    you are amazing.

  6. ShellyJ says:

Thanks for the chat! you weren’t scatter brained at all :) Can you give us an estimated date when we will all know a price for your class? THanks!

  7. Marianne says:

Thanks for all that fun information. You did great. It may have felt weird on your side, but from our standpoint it worked fine. Looking forward to all the fun stuff coming out.

  8. Laura says:

Becky, Thanks for the chat today! I love that PL is available for everyone with younger kids. I would have loved to have been able to do this for my kids who are high school and and college aged. I was hoping that the class could address PL for older kids and also how I might be able to use it to record their younger years.

Thanks for the great, informative chat with us! really fun…watched it (most of it) at my desk, eating lunch, at my medical office. you are always so bright and cheerful! had to leave twice to see my patients……are you going to have a transcript available to I can read what I missed? You see, even docs scrap!
    thanks again and God Bless.

Thank you for taking time to chat to us this morning (afternoon in Indiana)! :) I was very happy that you mentioned the school kit would work for any school type. I homeschool our kids and most scrapbook supplies are more geared for public schooled only. So, I was VERY happy to hear your comments about your new kit.

Someone posted about a PL book/notebook. I can’t remember the name of the person. Then, they clarified about the type of book. They described it as a book/notebook giving ideas/prompts or jotting down our own thoughts and ideas. I totally get that! Not just a book with layouts shown. There is a ton of PL inspiration on the net. A plain notebook could be used, sure. But, a cool PL book/notebook would be totally awesome! I would definitely purchase one if you produced something like that.

Thanks again for taking your time today! Have a great evening!
    Angela

  11. Irene says:

Sorry I missed the chat. I was at work. My comments are: please price the class at an affordable rate. I think the people who are saying they want a challenge a week (or whenever) are forgetting how challenging November and December can already be with all the demands on time. You know how to make complicated things simple. Focus on that.

  12. Nicole says:

Great job, as always!! Oh, how lovely the Scrapbooking TOUR sounds!!! That alone would make me purchase a class. You’re so inspiring!!! Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!!

  13. Erin says:

The scrapbooking tour sounds great- after all that is what brought most of us to your site- liking your work. I also love the idea of participants in the class getting a special project or information, etc that is only offered in the class. Essentially, a take away.
    Thanks for all you do!

  14. Kim says:

What about something like, you [as in the person that is taking the class]? Something that focuses on the person taking the class. I don’t scrap about myself normally, so that would help.
How to take memorable videos. Whoever takes yours does a great job.
I like exclusive downloads. Buying a paper kit really adds to the price.
No to the organizing. I feel like that can be found is so many other places. We are paying for your expertise in scrapbooking, I would love to see more story information from you.
Focus on cultivating a good life. Ask us questions that a meaningful and make us reflect on what we are doing. Take you daily post to a whole new level. Dig deaper.
Yes, please price this under $50. I know that it is a 3 month class, but man, close to $100 is a lot during that time of year and for a ton of people who are having a financially hard time. It might not seem like a lot to others, but even $50 will be a stretch for me.

    • TracyBzz says:

Typically a 4 Experts class at BPC hve been $75 – $150 (occasionally more), that’s only $6-12 a week. You get the class content: handouts, videos, message boards, chats and forever access. Start saving now.

  15. Terri G. says:

Thank you for putting up a link up so that those of us who had to miss the chat this morning could see it. I’m very excited about all of the new stuff that’s coming. I would love to hear your process for getting photos from your camera phone, camera, etc. to your photobook. Even if your process doesn’t work for me, there might be a tip hear and there that would be helpful. The tour of your projects and how you have them organized sounds great also.

  16. Emily says:

My main question and plea would be that the class can somehow be available to TONS of people. You know there are going to be a bizillion of us who want to take it and if it’s limited it will sell out in 2 seconds and that’s such a bummer. So would there be away to format the class so that as many people as wanted to take it could? I hope so! Even if it means the first X number of people to register have the option to do live chats with you in addition to all the content and then everyone else maybe at a slightly lower price can’t actually chat but will have access to ALL the content, including the chats they just wont be able to personally be on the chat, if that makes sense.

The things I would like to learn more about is how you organize your life. Specifically your time and how you balance wife, mother, career, church member, daughter, friend, etc. I feel like we get tons of PL ideas through your blog so I’d love to pick your brain on some other stuff. I feel like being organized and orderly is a huge key to being able to cultivate a good life and record it. Another thing I would be interested in is your thoughts and ideas on cultivating a good life. Kind of expounding on your little fb one liners about cultivating a good life.

Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    • TracyBzz says:

BPC classes aren’t usually limited enrollment. Typically only for photography classes if there is going to be personal feedback – to hard to let hundreds or thousands enrol and individually critique each photo they post. So you don’t have to panic :)

  17. Sarah Giles says:

    Hi Becky

Thanks for adding the video here. I really LOVE these ideas:
    * the scrapbook ‘tour’ you described
    * exclusive ‘stuff’ for Project Life
    * your process for getting photos from your camera/phone to your scrapbook
    * ideas/prompts for the ‘cultivate a good life’ side of your tagline, maybe something like ‘include a photo and journalling about how you served people in your community this week/helped a friend/showed hospitality/etc’

    I’m not so interested in:
    * holiday crafts
    * organising things other than scrapbooking

Great to hear about the new products. Thank you for all your hard work on these lovely things! :)

  18. Marieliz says:

Can’t seem to view it. I tried yesterday also it just and it says its not available :(

  19. Desiree Chandler says:

LOVED watching the video… even though it was after it was broadcast. :) You are SO inspiring Becky and I wanted to let you know that just watching you and getting ideas from you is AWESOME! Can’t wait to see what you develop for the class. :)

  20. LuAnn says:

I love the “live” talks as well as the video taped ones. I know it takes time but it would be awesome to see some more live feeds where we could share ideas or just schedule some live broadcasts like 1/2 hour or so to cover a single topic occasionally as an extra bonus.

  21. Debbie says:

Much Grace to you Becky as you take on the “extra” labor for your class. 2013 is around the corner, and you will get through it!
I loved your “thumbs up” to the comment a bike ride with your kids is much better than a super organized mom. (while discussing no meal yet planned!) Just a word to encourage you to continue to treasure these special times with your children. Time goes by quickly. enjoy today!

  22. blissmamaof3 says:

Where did you get the pink polka dot picture frame on the easel behind you? So very cute!

  23. Leslie says:

Hi Becky, Are you still looking for feedback for things we would like to see in your online class? I think it would be fun to have a daily prompt for things to take pictures of that day. It would really help us think outside the box for things to photograph about our daily lives that we have not thought of before, something out of the ordinary. You always come up with such clever things to inspire us. What do you think of that idea?
