You guys know that one thing (of many) that Ali Edwards and I have in common is our passion for documenting the everyday – and helping others feel inspired to do the same. She has such a gift for writing and recording and photographing … and inspiring those who read her blog or take her classes to be better about those things for themselves.
Ali is about to start a new online class on Big Picture Classes that will inspire you to write your stories and document your everyday life with more depth. The class is called 31 Things and it begins tomorrow – Thursday.
So check this out. I got this email from Angela in Indiana this week:
I am enrolled in Ali Edwards’ 31 Things Big Picture Class. I am a 36-year-old wife and mother of 8 kiddos. I am currently homeschooling four of the children. We are pulled in lots of different directions, together and individually. So Project Life has been wonderful in fulfilling my need to simplify my scrapbooking/memory keeping.
Also, I see that it is super important to preserve my normal, everyday life stories, as well as our family’s. I am completely intrigued by the upcoming 31 Things class. It is going to inspire me to get my stories on paper. My children and grandchildren will be thankful for that. I could go on and on.
Angela goes on to say that it crossed her mind that someone else might really love to take Ali’s class but perhaps they don’t have the extra means right now for one reason or another. She would like to pay for someone else’s spot in the class. Actually – she would like to pay for TWO spots.
Seriously? That’s what they call paying it forward. This is genuine generosity at its finest. I am so thankful to Angela for reaching out this way, and so thankful that she asked me to host the giveaway on my blog.

I am a stay at home mom of two boys, I can’t imagine having 8 kiddos & homeschooling! We made the choice to sacrifice my income in favor of staying home with our children. I have to thank you personally for creating such a simple, but elegant system for us to documenting those meaningful pieces in my life.
Last year, 2011 was a horrible year for me and for my family. Beginning of last year, We lost our father who was only 63 years and seems to be very healthy. After that, I just completely let myself go and in April I lost my job as a preschool teacher. The child who I careed the most, their parents turned around against me. I totally lost my faith. Then later of last year, after almost a year of trying to start our family. I found out about my health issue that result in my infertility. How horrible could life be sometimes. Everything comes to get me together. I cried, I doubt and I struggled. Then close to the end of 2011, I came across some blogs show cased their Project life, and more I learned about it, the more I am in love and need it to be my therapy. So I started my very first project life the last week of 2011. I am grateful and thankful that I made this decision. In this process, I get to journal my pain and my anger, frustration and other complicated feelings. I also collect a lot stuff that remined my self how much I am loved and blessed. After almost six months of my Project life, I am complete healed, in the sense that I can be humor and open about it when I talk to other people. I regret did not start to document more when my father was still around. But it’s never too late I guess. Thank again for this wonderful system and your passion in PL. I am inspired by you and Ali a lot.

Our daughter is getting married next month and she has to pay for her wedding. It really hurts me and I feel so bad because we cannot help. We are trying to figure out how to have gas to even go to the wedding. I know there are so many people struggling. I look forward to the day that I can do something wonderful like this for people. That is so generous and kind of Angela. I would be honored to win this class. Reminds me of the time my daughters’ eighth grade class was traveling to an amusement park to celebrate the end of the year. She felt bad because some of the children could not go because their families could not afford it. So I volunteered to pay for a child and encouraged other families to do so as well. In the end even some of the teachers chipped in to send every child. It was a wonderful, beautiful thing to witness.
That’s what I love about this hobby – everyone you encounter is just so generous! So nice. Please thank her for me, even if I’m not chosen.
