summer inconsistency

Summer means a lot of things. One thing I can count on – and you can count on – is inconsistency on my blog. Case in point: My last blog post was 11 days ago. I can’t remember the last time I had such a lapse. When school got out for the kids, we ran away. It was awesome. Road-tripping with the family to see extended family and friends was just what we needed.

And as always – we are so happy to be back. There’s no place like home.

So for the Summer, you can count on inconsistency here on my blog because the kids are around more and we’re enjoying more family time. Sometimes we are completely here but the blog gets less of my attention. Sometimes you’ll see daily posts whether I’m posting them live or they are scheduled ahead of time. It’s just not predictable. I don’t lock myself into a schedule during the Summer.

What IS predictable is that no matter when I post, or how often, I will continue to do what I love doing on my blog: I’ll share inspiring ideas, product updates, deep thoughts, light thoughts, fun giveaways, and all sorts of bloggity goodness. I’m grateful that you’re here. I’m grateful for your kind emails and comments and expressions of gratitude for what you enjoy about my blog. I strongly feel that we all need to be selective with our time spent with technology. There are a lot of great places to visit and a lot of places that waste our time. My goal is to keep my blog atmosphere positive, inspiring, informational, and uplifting. Life is too short to make it any other way.

Speaking of inspiration … I will be sharing a handful of pictures from our roadtrip on facebook + twitter throughout today, if you’re interested. Many of you already “like” my facebook page or follow my twitter feed. If you aren’t on those, or you’re simply not interested in adding me to your list, no problem. You can still see my live updates on the right side of my blog in the little facebook thing.

NOTE: I didn’t haul the dSLR around on this trip. Documented the whole thing in the palm of my hand with my iPhone. The picture above was edited on my iPhone with the wildly popular Instagram app (Early Bird filter) but all other pictures I’m sharing today were edited in Camera+. You can see all my favorite apps HERE.

I understand about Summer time! I teach Kinder and have the summer off and look forward to starting Project life! I love the inspiration from your Facebook site and this blog! I dont have children but think that I can still manage the Project life between pics of my hubby and puppies!

Thank you for all you do!

You are awesome! I figured that you were having an adventure with your lovely family. That’s one reason I don’t start a blog is that I am not very good at balancing work, family, fun, tech addiction, etc. Keep up the great work of balancing, cultivating, documenting, sharing. We’ll be here whenever you are!

Awesome! I bet one of the stops was Kade Bearnson’s wedding! I just saw the photos on her blog — so beautiful!!

Becky, how did you get the text on your Instagram picture? I’ve tried various apps trying to get one that will add text, but have not found anything decent…they all look awful.

Hoping you didn’t add that bit from your computer. ;-) I do all my photos through my iphone, load through the Shutterfly app and skip the computer altogether….

No explanations necessary Becky. We love you and appreciate all that you do, can’t wait for more project life stuff!!!!!!!!!. Enjoy your summer. Would love to hear a shout out from you once a week if possible, but hey family comes first. My kids will be home after Thursday and my blog reading will dramatically decrease as well so hey it really is perfect timing. Many blessings to you and your family.

Whatever you choose to do this summer, just know that you are a true inspiration to this Long Island lady! Also, just a really fun blog to check out! I love your positivity, especially. Have a great summer!

I have the same question as Melissa above:

“Becky, how did you get the text on your Instagram picture? I’ve tried various apps trying to get one that will add text, but have not found anything decent…they all look awful.”

I’m certain it’s easy..I’m just not up to speed on this stuff :)

I live in St. George, UT so appreciate the “beauty” of the desert and of the National Parks so close by. I also just returned from a big family trip….Hawaii….and so appreciate the time to spend with my husband and two teenagers who will sooner than later be gone from our “nest”. I struggle with all the technology and the time it takes away from all the precious moments of life…glad there are others who have similar thoughts.

Enjoy your break! You definitely deserve it:) Have a nice summer!

    Becky,
Your iPhone picture taking, having it handy to record life is so inspiring!!
I also had the same question as Melissa and Morgan above.

How do you add cool text to your pics?

I use an app called OhMyPic but I saw on your “favorite apps” page that you said you love camera+ more now that you can add captions. I use that app and all the captions I’ve noticed on there are in the borders section and it seems like you can only add the captions to the bottoms, not in the pic like your “road trip” above.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Enjoy your summer. Road trips are a big part of ours. Can’t wait for our first one this weekend.

how in the world are your iPhone pictures that crystal clear and beautiful? (the ones on Facebook?)

  13. Trina says:

I’m with everyone else here today…How did you get the text onto your instagram photo?? Please share your secret!

I have totally disappeared too for other reasons. But family time is crucial so we all totally understand. I dont have an iphone, but I can imagine the ease of taking photos with it.
