feedback tuesday

This Q+A post is completely dedicated to the questions you have about last week’s Big Reveal of products that I announced and introduced. In case you missed it, here’s a re-cap: First I announced 2 new brand-new designers in the Project Life family. Elise Blaha Cripe designed the new Seafoam Edition and Heather Bailey designed the new Olive Edition. Totally different styles, and so much enthusiasm for both.

Then I announced the Baby products, and finally the Childhood products with a couple of videos … including a surprise announcement at the end of Friday’s video. It was an exciting week, and we are so grateful for your feedback and I’m happy to address many of your questions.

It’s Feedback Friday Tuesday Time!

…..

Q: When will your new designs be available?

A: Everything can’t be produced and delivered ALL at the same time (unfortunately). To keep you as informed as possible about when different products are expected to arrive to Amazon (for U.S. customers) – our freshly updated Products page is always the most updated with product availability, dates, and links.

For example, you can click on the CORE KITS + MINI KITS section and you’d see this (below), which includes the availability status of all of the editions. Whenever we receive production updates that affect the timing, we quickly make the necessary edits to this page so our customers are always well-informed.

If you live outside the U.S. you can inquire with your local distributor about the timing for products to arrive to your country. We have a whole section on the sidebar of the Products page called Shop by Country. That’s how you can find out who to contact.

…..

Q: Will there be a way to pre-order your new deigns to ensure they do not sell out?

A: For customers outside the U.S., yes. Just contact your local distributor, as I just outlined.

For U.S. customers, we would love to make this happen but have been limited by Amazon’s inability to do pre-orders on our products. But believe me – we are looking into other ways to make this possible. We would love it just as much as you!

…..

Q: Will your new designs be available digitally? What about your new plastics designs?

A: Absolutely. Every edition that we offer is (or will be) available in the form of digital elements as well. Right now all of our digital products can be found on JessicaSprague.com and we anticipate all the NEW designs (Seafoam Edition, Olive Edition, Baby Editions, and Childhood Editions) will be available around November. We’re also working on adding the new Photo Pocket Page (“plastics”) designs soon.

…..

Q: Will your new deigns be available through Shutterfly?

A: That’s up for discussion. Shutterfly is not carrying ALL Project Life editions (their choice; not ours) but they do currently have the Turquoise Edition + the Clementine Edition available, with the possibility of adding another for next year. Stay tuned for more information.

…..

Q: Will there be a coordinating binder for all your new designs?

A: We will have coordinating binders for the Seafoam + Olive Editions (the images weren’t ready in time for last week’s reveal. I’ll share pictures when we have those). However, we will not likely have “designer” binders for the Baby and Childhood editions. Instead we plan to offer classic, solid-colored We R Memory Keepers binders that coordinate beautifully.

…..

Q: Will you be offering coordinating 12×12 patterned paper for your new designs – including Cherry?

A: Yes, the 12×12 Patterned Paper for Seafoam + Olive + Baby editions will arrive with the other products for those new editions. You can see a sampling in those respective posts last week. It’s possible we’ll bring back the Cherry 12×12 Patterned Paper in the future, but with sooooo much else coming out right now, it’s not exactly on the very top of the list. We’re also holding off on producing Childhood 12×12 Patterned Paper for now, simply because (like I said earlier) we can’t do EVERYthing all at the same time. Same goes for the other already-existing editions. We’re not ready to reprint those packs of Patterned Paper just yet.

…..

Q: I am super excited about your new Bazzill cardstock. Will the new designs have matching cardstock as well?

A: That’s something that I don’t know how to answer just yet. When the little boxes of 3×4 Textured Cards and 4×6 Textured Cards show up on Amazon in the next couple weeks, this will be the first time we’ve had these available. In other words, we have no idea if they’ll be super hot, or if people just don’t take to those items as well. Once we see how things go with those, we’ll be able to tell if it makes sense to offer the same thing for our new editions coming late this year.

…..

Q: Is your upcoming Baby Kit meant to cover only the first year of life? Or could we use it for our toddlers?

A: The Baby Core Kits are really designed to document baby’s first year. However, if you wanted to carry the album into the toddler years, you absolutely can. The Core Kit includes so many cards that do not have specific prompts on them so that you can use them for any themes or topics or photos.

…..

Q: How much will the new Baby Core Kits cost?

A: All Core Kits are approximately the same number of cards and same packaging. So the Baby Core Kits will be the same price as our other Core Kits.

…..

Q: Outside of the US most of us say “Mum” instead of “Mom.” Are there cards in your new Baby kit with that wording?

A: The vast majority of our products are sold to U.S. customers. It would be nearly impossible for us to conform to everyone’s specific needs for every product we create. For this reason, you’ll always find plenty of “blank”/versatile cards in every kit we offer, allowing you to journal however you’d like. However, this would a time that we’ll make an exception – because we love our international customers.  : )

Around the time that the digital elements become available (November?) – we will have a handful of cards from the Baby kits that have “Mum” instead of “Mom” and we will make this available at no cost for anyone who wants them.

…..

Q: I want to order multiple Baby kits to mix and match. Is there anything that makes the pink for girls and blue for boys besides the color?

A: It’s really just a color change. Maybe the word “girl” or “boy” pops up like once on one of the cards in the respective editions, but these 3 baby editions are all the same graphic designs but different COLORS between edition. There’s also a pattern or two that changes between the editions, but that’s it. Example – we included a damask/feminine pattern in the “For Her” edition and a zig zag/chevron pattern in the “For Him”. They’re ALL yummy – and mixing + matching the editions could be a really fun idea!

…..

Q: I can hardly wait for your new Childhood Mini Kits. You mentioned that the box will hold 100 cards. How many will be title cards and how many will be Journaling cards?

A: There are (10) 4×6 Title Cards + (10) 4×6 Journaling Cards + (40) Prompt Cards + (40) Journaling Cards. All are double-sided so that you have vertical and horizontal options.

…..

Q: How much will your new mini kits cost?

A: We don’t know yet.

…..

Q: How many pages will your Mini Album hold?

A: There are 20 pages. If you were to pair a Mini Album with a Mini Kit, one layout would look like this: (1) 4×6 Title/Journaling Card + (4) 3×4 Prompt/Journaling Cards + (3) 4×6 photos. So the Mini Kit would provide the exact number of cards you would need to complete a Mini Album, along with (60) 4×6 photos. Obviously you can do whatever you want, but that hopefully gives you a better idea. I have loaded all the cards of a Mini Kit into one of the Mini Albums and will plan to share a video of this soon. It’s so stinking fun + easy!

…..

Q: Can you share more about your vision for the mini kits and what other products you are considering? Will there be holiday or vacation mini kits?

A: The vision is BIG + FUN, but how about I just give you enough of a glimpse that you’ll catch a piece of the vision with me? We’re staring with Childhood Mini Kits and a few colors of the Mini Albums. Obviously Mini Kit + Mini Album = the perfect fit and the easiest and most fun way to assemble a mini album with EASE. Very Project Life style. So naturally, the mini kits will expand into different themes: Baby, Holidays, All About Me, Heritage … our list is long.

But this isn’t just about creating mini albums. This is about having a handful (100) cards of a particular theme or style that you can mix into ANY Project Life album you have in the works. For example, I’m using the Childhood Mini Kits to build my kids’ 12×12 albums. Another example: Let’s say you’re doing a 12×12 Project Life album that documents your family’s year. The Holidays Mini Kit (which will include all the major holidays) will have cards that you can use on those specific layouts you want to do about your holidays + celebrations throughout the year. Make sense?

…..

{ we’re so happy that you’re happy }

From Danielle: I totally appreciate the “manly” edition, as I have a house full of a guys! I’m the only girl here, and it is hard to find really great scrapbooking materials that reflect a more masculine style. So thank you for thinking of the guys with your Seafoam Edition!

From Beth: Oh. My. Goodness. I am in love! Feminine without being cutesy. I am going to be seriously stalking Amazon, Facebook, and the blog come November so that I can grab your new Olive Edition.

From Becky: Was 3 months behind on Project Life due to a busy summer. Just caught up in 3 hours. Thank you for making documenting life do-able during the toddler years.

From Lauren: My hubby and I are hoping to get pregnant withour first baby in the next year and I just know this will be the first thing I buy once I see the positive sign. I can’t think of a better way to document welcoming our first baby into the world.

From Tara: A- this week was awesome. B- I love everything. C- those mini albums: LOVE!

Thanks for the info! Will you be releasing more info about the mini kits & albums? Because of my internet connection, I”m not able to watch a 25 minute video, so I feel like I’m totally missing something awesome!! Thanks for communicating so well.

  2. Jennifer Simon says:

I cannot wait for the childhood products to come out. i have my kids stuff waiting.

I would love to see a mini kit that is kinda like the heritage theme but with nods toward different decades. like retro designs or vintage toys, so we can scrap our own childhood photos. It would be amazing to see prompt cards that have a throwback vibe.

  3. banu H says:

WOW, Just awesome. I cannot tell you how much I am loving the mini editions and how they can be used with the 12×12 PL layouts or 12×12 regular layouts or in the mini album (as a gift or just for myself). Plus with the holidays, it will be perfect. Thanks so much. I just love this whole PL Concept.

  4. Melissa says:

I’ve got so many ideas and I can see how this would be SO EASY to put together…now I just have to sit down and get my photos INTO the PL albums! Thank you for all of your hard work – reading the comments last week made me laugh, because everyone is so very excited, but for each time someone says, “I wish…” someone else says the exact opposite. You cannot please us all 100% but you are certainly trying!

  5. kelly says:

Thanks for all the info Becky! I SO appreciate how you try as much as you can to keep us all updated on all the lovliness that you’re working on! I just wanted to comment on the 12 x 12 paper…I can completely understand that it isn’t a high priority with so much else going on, but I love using the 12 x 12 paper. I bought several of them over the past year and really enjoy incorporating it into my album this year (Clementine). I’ve already purchased my Cherry album and core kit for next year and am really hoping that we can get the 12 x 12 paper…just sayin’ :-) Thanks again for all you do. I can’t get enough of your products!!!!

  6. Taylor says:

yay!!! cant wait…. hate to throw another question out there, but any more talk of the 3×4 punch? im dying for one haha!!

  7. Cinta says:

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see these designs on Shutterfly! I’ve recently transitioned to doing it ALL in photo books on Shutterfly because it is so much easier than anything else, and has less storage space per album on my shelves. I’m currently doing a book on there now, but wish I had more of your editions on there to choose from! And I don’t know if I should request this of you or not, but PLEASE add more idea pages for your Shutterfly books online. I love each and every one of them, just wish I had more!!! I love the new products, and they make me want to get into non-digital scrapbooking again, but I just don’t have the time. Please Shutterfly, add more of Becky Higgins!

  8. Christine says:

Thanks for the update Becky. I’m super excited adout the digital “plastics” pages.

  9. mary says:

so excited! and so appreciative of your professionalism and keeping us posted:)

i have a question that i *know* has been asked before: is there any chance of a 3×4 punch being produced? i would absolutely adore that punch if it ever showed up;)

    thanks!

    mary

  10. Mandy says:

Can we consider a 3 ring mini album? That would be pure awesome!

  11. Cheryl :) says:

Love.Love.Love. the new plastics(and I mean ALL of them)!!! Just got them last week and caught up on PL over the weekend. Thanks so much to you and your “team” for all you do!!! Can hardly wait for the new products!!!

  12. Amy P says:

Great info! As usual, you are TOPS at keeping us informed! Thank you!

  13. Dawn Salisbury says:

Amazing BECKY…just amazing..I LOVE all your products, I dream of my PL pages now and am so exicted ot do my projects. I set a little bit of time aside everday….your simple concept enables me to keep up to date beautifully…and looking back on my book since the fisrt of the year reminds me of what a blessed life I have…I thought , when I started this, being single my life was dull and boring….looking thur my book…I relize how much fun, wonderful every detail in my life is!!….THANK YOU THANK YOU!

  14. libbywilko says:

Thank you so so much Becky for answering all our questions and reading our comments. I am stoked about the digital cards for Mums , so sweet of you to provide some free. Bring on Nov ;-) What an amazing company…who really listen to their customers.

  15. Whitney P. says:

I’m so very excited about the mini albums & kits. They are just my size! The 12×12′s are nice, but too big and intimidating for me. I love that you have a long list of ideas for themes. I am so on board!!

  16. Julie says:

Thank you so much for the update – you are so good about keeping your Project Lifers in the know!!! I think my favorite new thing is the mini-kits, especially the HOLIDAYS!!! I just love the idea of being able to use these in my ongoing 12×12 Project Life albums. Beyond holidays, I would love to see a SEASONS mini-kit(s). It could be one kit, or one kit for each season (winter, spring, summer, fall) filled with journaling cards that reflects the colors, patterns and themes of nature as the seasons change around us. Thank you so much!!!

Oh, and speaking of plastics (which I love, love, love and cannot get enough of) please consider introducing 6 VERTICAL 4×6 pockets (think Design C rotated 90 degrees). I take a ton of vertical photos and this would be great for holidays and special events where I have way more photos than journaling. Rather than think about resizing to 3×4, I could just print and go – very Project Life.

Thank you again so much. I love the great work you and your whole team are doing!!!

  17. Krista says:

Thanks so much for all the great information — I really appreciate you sharing your vision of the mini kits — Your answer was exactly what I hoped — Something I can incorporate into my current album!

  18. Sharon Holesh says:

Will the Baby editions have matching binders? I am assuming that the Olive and Seafoam kits will also have binders.

  19. Kristine says:

    Any 3×4 punch?

  20. Wende says:

Now that you are a dog owner, PLEASE consider doing a dog/cat pet mini-kit! Since you mentioned that your list of possible mini-kits is long, I hope that is already on the list. If not, I am positive that it would be worthwhile for a mini-kit of this subject to be created. I think two mini-kits could be designed 1) dog/cat 2) other pets. I envision this to work like the holiday one you talked about in your post- to work into our family/regular PL books as they come up OR make a mini-book or make a whole album.
    Thanks!

  21. Anna W says:

I’m so excited for the baby and childhood editions! I’m going to use them in my kids 12×12 album. I am also excited for a holiday edition! I would love to have holiday cards for my daily Project Life album. I know you have alot you’re planning, but please consider a 3×4 punch for photos to fit in the journal slots. In my daily album sometimes I put a photo there and can’t cut it quite perfect. Thanks for all you do! We love you Becky!

  22. Carlie P says:

Anybody have any idea how much a Project Life binder holds? Will it hold a years worth or just a couple months? Help!

    • Beth S. says:

The idea is that it holds a whole year. If you stick to a two page spread a week (if you choose to do a weekly format) and only a couple extras here and there than one binder would be enough. Some do a lot more inserts and end up needing more than one binder.

  23. JAmie says:

Love the idea of having a holiday “mini kit” to mix in with my main Project Life album! So excited!

  24. Ellen McKinley says:

Becky, I would love to see more variety in the designs–basically, they are all very graphic–stark contrast between the colors and the white background, with very sharp, clean lines. Can we have one that’s a little softer and more traditional?

Also, I would like to join the long list of people requesting that 3×4 punch!

    Thanks for all you’ve done!

  25. Pedita Hall says:

    Becky (and the team):

Thank you for making plans to cover us “mum”s out here. Digi is a great work around, we all have to print photos so a card or two printed out as well is just fine. I think the new kits are just gorgeous, and can’t wait to play with them.

I’d still like to vote for Baby binders if I may. In the meantime, suggestions as to which WRMK binder colors would work best with the kits would be helpful. Ordering online makes such color match ups tricky!

    Kind regards,

    Pedita Hall

  26. Michelle says:

Thank you for the updates! I can’t wait for the digital versions to be available. Any chance you’ll release them earlier? ;)

  27. Maria says:

Thanks for keeping us posted Becky, can’t wait to order Seafoam and at least one (possibly two) mini kit!

I have a question regarding the baby editions, are many of the cards written for an infant? Would the kit be suitable for an adopted child age two or three? I wouldn’t know when my kids got their first teeth or started walking so if there’s a lot of cards for that I think I might have to go with the mini kits instead. Or maybe you could offer a small selection of cards (like the mum cards) about adoption?

I also would like to see a Christmas kit (maybe a mini-mini kit?) and yes please, a 3×4 punch!

  28. Kala says:

I would love to see grade titles or numbers to match the mini kits. This would be fine as a digital addition like the “mum” cards

    Thanks!

  29. Lauren says:

I think a vacation or travel theme would be awesome as a mini kit. I usually end up doing a large 12×12 ‘traditional’ scrapbook for big trips but it would be nice to have something simpler like the mini album and mini kit to get it documented quickly.

  30. Mickee says:

Thank you Becky! I cannot wait to get my hands on the baby kit and childhood mini kits (digital of course). Can you please, please, please also create a wedding kit so I can finally organize our wedding photos from 9 years ago? :)

YEA!!!!! This makes me happy! I created my own digital plastics. Looking forward in seeing what your graphic designer comes up with. Love the seafoam edition and the childhood mini kits will be using both in 2013. ~Melanie

  32. Janne says:

It’s a great solution to ad a digital version for PL’ers outside US. Please think that into any mini-kit In the future. Beeing from Denmark we celebrate x-mas on the 24th as to your 25th of december. If you incorperate numbers In the holiday kit.
    Thanks for ALL you do!

  33. Stacey M. says:

I too would love a punch! And I second the vertical 4×6 pages. I take A LOT of vertical photos because of my iphone, and I would love to not have to resize to 3×4. Thanks for the update and all that you do. I am huge fan of PL and am so excited about the new editions and all the new products coming out.

  34. Alison says:

Hi Becky. That’s so kind of you to read all the comments and provide answers.
‘m particularly excited to see your thoughtful consideration of “Mum” rather than just “Mom”.

I received the new Cobalt Core Kit this week. It is quite different to the old core kits. I had purchased the clementine before. I prefer the clementine but was pleasantly surprised that the colours of Cobalt were even nicer than they had apopeared on my screen. I did find though that there were lots of cards I can’t see myself using because of the wording printed on them. I can see that some people would love those words but it doesn’t fit with my album. So I’m left with a huge stack of un-useable cards. It got me thinking, would you consider a design that has just the patterned journal and filler cards without words printed on them? So we can add our own words? You have really cool designs and I think it would be more versatile if they didn’t have words about life etc printed for use in thematic albums.
Thanks for all your hard work
    Blessings, Alison, Aus

  35. Karen J says:

Hi Becky, I am so excited about the introduction of the “mini-kits” and their versatility!!!

Have you given any thought to adding a “mini-kit” version of the core Project Life kits? Especially for those of us who may have less to document or take a lot of pictures or like to add in our own cards and then end up with A LOT left over each year???? It would also make mixing and matching more affordable for those of us who want BOTH kits each year.

Project life has totally changed the way I scrapbook and inspired me so much.
    Thanks for your amazing products!!!!!

  36. Nicole says:

Love the mini kits and all of the visions you have for them in the future!!

I was wondering if the childhood kits are like the baby editions where they have the same contents but have different colors for the most part? Thanks so much for all of your hard work — it all looks awesome!

  37. Kansas Kel says:

I am happy to see the new kits will be available in digital versions. I am just getting into digi scrapping and love the project life concept. Hybrid scrapper here so I love having options!
