I am completely thrilled to introduce one of our newest graphic designers – Elise Joy Blaha Cripe!
If you are even remotely familiar with Elise’s blog you know she’s amazing in a million ways … and you know she is a Project Lifer (yippee!). Project Life has been a new thing for Elise this year, documenting her journey which is full of creative projects + decorating their new home + gardening + married life + all sorts of adventures. I have been so drawn to not only her way of capturing slices of life but also her sense of design. The girl’s got style.
Elise has designed one of our new editions for 2013 and we are both super stoked to share with you a few sneak peeks of … the SEAFOAM EDITION of Project Life!
Elise had a chance to play with her own Project Life cards as she incorporated them into this past week’s layout (she does a week-at-a-glance documenting in her Project Life album).
Just to note a couple things that you’re seeing here: It’s a layout using Design A Photo Pocket Pages, but on the right side you’ll also notice our new Design J which she has sandwiched between the 2 main pages. Also – that bright pink peeking out from behind (close to the spine)? Elise actually painted those stripes onto one of our Scrapbook Dividers. You can see more about that here.

{ worth noting } When we were in the early design phase of this edition, I asked Elise to avoid any pink, any flourishes, any damask, any anything that would be “girly”. You know why? Most of us have guys in our life, right? Our husbands, sons, whomever. Is it possible they would appreciate some pages without the frill? Do you see where I’m going with this? The Seafoam Edition will be so rad for creating an album – or at least some pages – for HIM. And the best part? It’s so totally perfect for most of us girls, too. Hello, versatility. I am personally so excited to use the Seafoam Edition cards for all sorts of scrapbooking.
{ coming next } The best thing about releasing 2 Project Life editions at the same time is that we try to make them quite different from one another. So maybe the simple/graphic/modern look isn’t totally your style. Maybe you prefer something more feminine. Tune in tomorrow for the next big surprise. I have a feeling there will be additional squeals about who designed our other 2013 edition, and what her Project Life products look like.

Love it! I have a husband and two boys so though I love the other girly editions, I tend to gravitate more towards ones that have a more masculine feel (though I’ve loved turquoise and cobalt anyway – just more my style anyway). I love this because it is lighter/brighter, but definately not too feminine. Great!

I am SO excited!! My wedding colors last year were seafoam, silver and gold (with pink). I have been wondering how I am going to use Project Life for my wedding album. This is it!! I just finished the Cherry album this weekend of my daughter’s 3month – 3 year professional photos. Need to add a few written details and it is done. Finished it in 2 hours. LOVING PROJECT LIFE!!!! (Our house burnt down in December of 2010 so I need to do many albums, quickly. This is the answer.)

ahhhhhhhhhhh. I’m so excited. I was just looking at my PL last night and was frustrated because I’ve been DIY’ing it and it has been taking a lot of time. Which is not the way that its meant to be. But none of the kits really “went” with my life. Becky changed how I record my life, but Elise has always inspired the way in which I do it…and now it’s going to be so easy and amazing! The two blogs I check every morning- no matter what. I almost diiiiiiieeeeddd. You have just made PL more accessible to the 20/30′s no kids crowd. Thank you!!!!

Have followed Elise’s blog randomly since I found it about a year ago and just love how honest and fun she is, so this is such a perk for her to be one of the two new designers. This is so perfect for me and my Project Life…I have three boys (and a 4th, if you include the hubby, which I usually do), so I struggle to find products that fit in with our life. I love bold, but I also want my pictures to stand out more, with pretty papers and more subdued colors. Plus I love Elise’s style…win win right here! i can NOT even begin to express how thrilled i am about this pairing! i have LONG followed elise, and have ALWAYS loved her sense of simplicity & sticking to the story & pictures. while i LOVED the concept of project life, i never connected to any of the core kits, mostly because while they were lovely, and bright & colorful & all that.. they were just too busy for my personal style.. so having elise’s simple beauty combine with the concept of the core kits? GENIUS. i am so THRILLED you invited her to design.. i will be eagerly awaiting the release of this beautiful kit!

Well, I had my heart set on getting Clementine next year and now that’s shot! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Elise and stalk…I mean…follow her blog. This one is on the top of my list. I’ll wait to see what tomorrow brings, but I’m so excited about this edition! I’ll still have some of my Turquoise 3×4 cards leftover and those will meld nicely with this kit as well! The last thing that I did on my lunch hour today was check my Facebook feed. The only link that I clicked on was the link to the newest PL edition/reveal. I have been following EJBC’s blog for a couple of years now and knew that PL was her newest addiction, so I was OVER THE MOON to see this announcement! ‘Could barely even wait to get home from work so that I could check out this post in “full size” on my computer screen!! Am NOT a big fan of the yellows/oranges, but I know that Elise is and could certainly “make it work” with all of the other design elements that I DO love. Honeycombs, ampersand, and aqua (okay, okay; SEAFOAM) – HELLO?!?! The only huge bummer is, as always, THE WAIT! Alrighty, gals; I’m steadying myself for the week’s worth of announcements, a/k/a the week that you tell me how much money I need to start saving and when I’ll be spending it. ;-D

It’s funny you mentioned this kit being more gender neutral because I’ve approached PL a bit differently and am currently documenting our first year of marriage (June to June) in an album and have been thinking how I would love to do the same thing for a baby’s first year and as I was looking at this reveal I was thinking how it would be perfect for a boy or girl. I just might have to buy it and stash it away.

Is the yellow in this a true yellow? I was disappointed with the Amber. Not a problem…I used it for our trip to Denmark and i love the system, but I would have liked a true yellow!

This couldn’t be more perfect ! The ONLY thing I would change is that I would already have it in my stash. Ironically, I literally just bought the Turq Edition after waiting months and months for a restock. Now I must own this kit! it is stunning in color and the graphics and everything about it screams my style ! Oh my, now I will have an extra core kit. Thats not all bad.
Will start saving for my own little Christmas present , not counting on someone else getting it for me this year !
wonderful in its simplicity and its colours – definitely doing this project next year (this is my first year too ) I am also a graphic designer and I would buy and use this kit.
The more I look at this edition, the more I want to get it.. I was planning to order Clementine when I start work again after parental leave, but now I can’t maybe decide which one.. So maybe both X-D The colours are just right for my PL!
I am absolutely in LOVE with this edition! Looking at it, it is like you created it just for me! All my favorite colors, patterns, everything! I am SO excited to use this kit!!!! Thanks Elise and Becky! Now I know what my 2013 PL will look like!!!
I love, love, love the colors in this edition, but I wish there were more design/patterned cards and fewer “word” cards. Just my personal preference (and I know we all have different preferences!), but I just find the cards that contain phrases to be cheesy. Also, I tend to use Project Life to document big trips and events and not everyday life, so some of the words and phrases are ill-fitting to that kind of scrapbooking. I wonder whether there are enough patterned cards to still make buying this kit worthwhile… I’d like to get it! Perhaps with the patterned paper I can make it work.
