I love Fall. I embrace Fall. And yes – I get into the spirit of Fall much before we see cooler temperatures here in the desert where we live. Claire and I “decked the halls” (really it’s just mostly in the kitchen) with whatever Fall items we had stored away from past years. She’s learning how to create a cluster of decorations using random candle sticks, and we bonded over that. Now … if I can just convince Mother Earth to drop those temperatures a bit, I can bust out the long sleeves and fuzzy socks again.
I know these colors don’t necessarily say “Fall” to most people – but this blanket represents warmth and love and comfort to me and I will definitely find myself using it more and more as it cools down this Fall. My mom just crocheted that blanket for me and I’m pretty sure most of those 29,700 stitches were done sitting beside my brother’s side as she has been with him during his battle with cancer. So – this blanket is that much more special to me.
PS – You can find a couple of my Fall DIY projects (as seen in the pictures) in this post and this post. As for where I found most of the Fall decor items? I’ve accumulated them over so many years, it’s probably safe to say most items were either from Home Goods, Michaels, Hobby Lobby … those kind of places.

I love those colors!! And I love your house. It’s so beautiful.
I can understand the value of a blanket like that. My dear deceased aunt crocheted a “zig zag” blanket like that for me before she passed. I treasure it and you’re right, it’s so much more than just a blanket.
Shades of Blue
OH the blanket is beautiful AND you will treasure forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fall decor is definately my fave also!
Ummm…your house looks fabulous. I’m pretty sure we’re going to need to see more pictures, especially of that gorgeous kitchen!!
Beautiful colors.
Love the crochet blanket, BTW, and the coziness/homeyness it gives
I always love seeing your decor! My home is also decked out for Fall and I too wish for cooler temps here in Houston, TX. I just turn the a/c down, light some pumpkin candles, make soup and pretend!
Great timing – I’m starting to decorate for fall and this is fun inspiration! I love the blanket your mom made and hopefully that project helped her stay positive, or at least distracted. Any chance you could tell me what brand of yarn she used? The colors are absolutely beautiful.
Your home is beautiful – thank you for sharing!!
Your house is so cute! I too broke down and bought a couple little pumpkins and a purple candle for my office at http://www.OKWU.edu to enjoy the fall weather!
So fall in your house… same here…
Our thoughts are with you and your family with your brother battling the cancer.
Your house is beautiful, Becky! Looks cozy, too!
Sending you BIG hugs, friend!
Your house looks beautiful. Fall has gotten to be my favorite season (although, Christmas is my favortie holiday which is in winter… go figure) because of all the decor I set out too. I also love lighted a Spiced Pumpkin or Harvest candle from Yankee Candle Co… the smell just makes me feel cozy and warm. Hope you have a wonderful season.
Thoughts and prayers coming your way. Many blessings and hugs – thinking of you all during your brothers illness. That blanket will always have a special place in your heart.
God Bless
I love this!
Your home is so warm and fabulous! I adore Fall! Thank you for showing us your beautiful home! Many blessings!
Becky–
LOVE your decorations!
Where did you find the turquoise footstool / coffee table?
Thanks!
Love the colors of your new afghan!! So pretty
I live where you live, so I am feeling your pain.
Love your site, project life, and everything you do.
Not sure if you read your comments, but if you happen to need an extra hand somewhere with your business, I would love to volunteer and learn from you.
Love your house and decorations…so beautiful!
Blankets are like that. Some time after my grandfather passed, I asked my grandmother to make me one as a way of giving her some purpose. She only knew the zig zag kind. Typical of most who do these kinds of things, she had a stockpile of blankets she’d already finished. She handed me a bright green variegated one that was extra heavy and extra long…just like my grandpa liked them. It was his afghan…even better than one made for me.
We have several my mother in law has made over the years. No matchy match fancy blanket can replace those that are made with the love and time these treasures have…
Love the decorations, but where will you put all your kitchen clutter with those fab pumkins taking up valuable “dumping” space?
Happy Fall!
