Some time after my grandfather passed, I asked my grandmother to make me one as a way of giving her some purpose. She only knew the zig zag kind. Typical of most who do these kinds of things, she had a stockpile of blankets she’d already finished. She handed me a bright green variegated one that was extra heavy and extra long…just like my grandpa liked them. It was his afghan…even better than one made for me.

We have several my mother in law has made over the years. No matchy match fancy blanket can replace those that are made with the love and time these treasures have…

Fall has gotten to be my favorite season (although, Christmas is my favortie holiday which is in winter… go figure) because of all the decor I set out too.
