12 videos of Christmas: no. 1

It’s that time again!

We are kicking off our annual tradition of the 12 Videos of Christmas! You can see some of our videos from the past couple years on our Videos page any time. The idea with this tradition on BeckyHiggins.com – and what it has evolved to become – is that throughout the month of December, on 12 random days, I will share a video. These 12 videos are meant to teach, inspire, entertain, or enlighten you – or just give you a 5-minute break from the routine of your day.  : )

They’re not all specifically about Christmas. Some videos have nothing to do with Christmas at all, but we are sharing the full collection during the holiday season as one little gift to you – my readers, our customers, our friends. This year almost all of the videos that we are featuring were submitted by those who heard about our little contest back in early November. As much as I love making videos, I am truly in the thick of so much product development, that I promise you want me focused on that (and enjoying the season with my family of course) – rather than making videos. And trust me – I have plenty of video ideas up my sleeve for the coming months.

Today we are kicking off the series with a video that will make you either A) wish you thought of this 10 years ago or B) inspire you to do something like this starting right now – whether it’s centered around Christmas or another holiday or a birthday or something else. This was submitted Craig Haslam in California on behalf of his family – his wife Traca and their children Clara, Luke, Eve – whom you will see grow up right before your eyes in this time lapse video. So very cool.

Video shot with a Canon DV camcorder.

Note: I was curious if Craig knew much about my brand or website or products and he said, “Traca has done some scrapbooking over the years, but we just found your blog and contest through a google search for Christmas video contests. I’ve been checking your blog for updates, and I really like your projects and products. We may become Project Lifers too!”

Um – guess what Craig? Be careful what hints you drop because we are so going to hook you guys up with a full Project Life collection so that you can experience first-hand what Project Life can mean to your family … and how much time it can save Traca in the scrapbooking department! Plus – your kids are old enough to be involved too, writing some of your family memories in their own handwriting on our Journaling Cards. Can’t wait to hear how that goes for you! Thank you for inspiring us with this fantastic and incredibly sentimental video idea.

Oh Wow, just really beautiful. It does put a lump in your throat to see the time pass right before your eyes! I DO wish I would have thought of this 10 years ago, but we will start this Christmas and then maybe in 10 years I will know how to edit it for a time lapse video! We do take pictures of decorating the tree every year and maybe even a little video but this is a neat idea.

Hi everyone! Thank you ALL for the comments! You are making me tear up! I have to tell you what a sweetie Craig is. I had no idea he had a plan or had bigger things in mind. The compilation was a beautiful gift to me last Christmas.

You guys crack me up noticing that nothing changed! We lived in a small house and that was the only place to put the tree. Lol! Love you guys and can’t wait to learn more about Becky! Thanks for choosing us! Traca

    • Alison says:

So beautiful Traca! I felt so emotional watching. After years of longing for a baby we were blessed to welcome our newborn son through the miracle of adoption and now, 5 years later he is about to start school…time just flies by, our babies are not babies for long, and I am always desperately trying to capture every moment and cherish them in my heart. Your video choked me up…This is such a special keepsake you have of your babies.
It was obvious to me too that you are a loving family and caring of each other , shown in little ways, e.g. your daughter clapping your son’s piano, all helping to decorate etc :) God bless you guys and thanks for sharing.
      Alison, Australia.
