childhood editions

Once upon a time there was a mom who had piles of pictures, memorabilia, papers, artwork, report cards, and other bits and pieces of her child’s life. This woman felt so guilty that she hadn’t done anything with the little treasures. She wanted so badly for her child to have an album full of their memories but she just didn’t know where to start. She was overwhelmed, confused, and really didn’t know how she could possibly tackle the project. And yeah, there’s more than one kid in this scenario.

Does this sound like a tale about you!?

I’ll tell you what. This is ME. And this is why the Childhood Editions of Project Life exist – because I am that mom. If you missed the video and all the images from when I introduced the Childhood Mini Kits, be sure to check that out. Best thing since sliced bread.

And now … we are just around the corner from those Childhood Mini Kits finally being here. Being available. Being used in our albums!

fairy tale endings

Every mom who relates to the picture I painted at the beginning of this post can have HOPE. Project Life is designed to be a solution. But of course I understand that there seems to be a process that needs to happen before you can just throw pictures and journaling cards in the Photo Pocket Pages. Let’s be honest – that’s the easy part. I totally get it.

So here’s the deal: I made a 30-minute video that outlines my master plan for documenting my family’s life and documenting my kids’ life. I walk you step-by-step through what I’ve done to get a grip on it all. So if you missed that, grab yourself a snack, cuddle up with your lap top, and watch the video.

I am so ready to get those Childhood Mini Kits here. I know 2013 RESOLUTIONS are on a lot of our minds. I know I’m in good company with so many who are resolving to be better about documenting life this year. I know I’m in good company with so many who are resolving to catch up on their kids’ albums.

Let’s do this.

    So exciting, Becky!
I was wondering which childhood edition would pair best-colorwise- with Seafoam. I plan to incorporate the two this year. (I have boys, if that matters.)

    Thanks!
    Rachel

Excellent question…I’d like to integrate a childhood kit with my current PL album as well and I’m curious which ones coordinate with which standard kits best. I’m really focused on simplifying this process this year and having a very cohesive look. I have cobalt this year.

Are digital paper packs of the childhood kits going to be available? It’s nice to use a background paper that matches with the 3×4 and 4×6 cards in the rest of the album.

  10. Thank you for continuing to offer fantastic products, Becky. You and your products are are a gift to us all.

I am SO excited about the Seafoam and Childhood kits!! AND, I have an Amazon gift card (from Christmas) burning a hole in my wallet – CAN’T WAIT to use it!! Thank you for the wonderful products and the inspiration to get it done! I am energized to sort through all of those school boxes and get things in order!

Happy New Year to you, your family, and your PL Team!!

  13. Jen says:

I would love to buy the Seafoam and Childhood digital kits. Unfortunately AC Digitals doesn’t offer a paypal payment option. I don’t know if you have any say-so in anything like that, but I would strongly urge them to offer paypal as an option. (I have talked to their customer service about this). I want to give you my money, just not my credit card info :)

  14. Erin says:

I’m so excited about all these new kits! Already working on my twins baby album and can’t wait to get started on their childhood album!

Just curious if you have any other theme kits in the works? I’d love to see a wedding theme kit or maybe a honeymoon/travel kit?!

  15. Chrystal says:

Thank you sooo much, Becky! I am totally excited to get started on my little boy’s 2nd year album (he will be 14 months old on Jan 9th, so the timing is just about perfect). Happy new year!

  16. Melissa says:

    Another excited gal here.

I did a full year of PL in 2010 and haven’t even attempted it since. I do, however, think about it EVERY DAY. What a weirdo am I, right??

So I’m very excited to begin. I’m taking photos, I’m making notes and I’ve been very afraid that I’d lose my momentum without having the kit in hand (I’m awaiting one of the new releases). So happy to hear that they’re “en route”! :)

  17. Kris says:

I am excited to get my seafoam kit. I am done with 2012 and would have loved to have set it up in my free time the past couple of days. Looking forward to no delays in the New Year.

  18. Tina M says:

I am so excited about the Childhood Editions!

  19. Leanne in CA says:

Gotta love you! Thanks for your enthusiasm and can’t wait for the new additions! Happy New Year!!

  20. Sheree says:

Just bought Bridgeport and Wellington and printed them out! Now I need a punch to save me some time! With 3 boys, I figured this might be a cheaper way to go. Super excited to get started. Thanks Becky for all your products! Happy New Year!

  21. Jennie says:

Thank you SO much for the update! I asked for amazon gift cards for Christmas and I can’t wait to use them to buy these kits!! Thanks for letting us know you have a lot too, I was worried that everything would sell out in 5 minutes. Happy New Year!!!

  22. Christy says:

Thanks for all of your hard work Becky! I appreciate you, Happy New Year!

  23. Diana says:

Thank you Becky for the new childhood products. I have been doing project life since the beginning for our family albums. Now with the childhood kit plus the Clemintine binder, our 11year old daughter is taking over her own albums. It’s that easy. :)

  24. Wow, thanks so much for that video — it makes me feel like I can actually DO this. My daughter is almost 3, and we’re already starting to collect art and such, so I can just imagine how much more there will be once she’s in school. I appreciated seeing some of the “other” designs (ie. not Design A) in use with Porter’s album for memorabilia, since I use pretty much just Design A with very occasional uses of the other designs for our family Project Life albums but have “collected” lots of the other designs. Thank you, Becky.

  25. Lynnsey says:

I’m going to be scooping up several of all three kits – for all three of my kids! Can’t wait! They look just perfect for my style because I am heavy on photos and love just having a simple prompt and uniform design. The full kits are awesome too and what I have been using, but this will streamline for my needs. I do an individual book for each of the kids.

  26. Wendy says:

Will the childhood editions be available on Shutterfly? Curious if anyone is going forward with PL using Shutterly for 2013 or how Becky will be documenting this upcoming year?

  27. kim says:

    Unrelated question:
What type of day planner do you use to keep your busy life organized? My favorite brand just went out of business :(

    Thanks for sharing!

  28. Jamie K says:

Are the mini albums going to have the same pocket type page protectors as the 12×12 with multiple layout choices?

  29. Shanon says:

I just have to say that I loved how your Creative Team used the childhood kits. I love that they are so simple and it appears they are using it right out of the box. I also love how they all appear to be done traditionally. It gives me such a much better picture of what I can expect from the kit and what it will look like all put together!

  30. Cannot tell you how THRILLED I am to be starting Project Life!! Was a “classic scrpabooker” until life started happening…marriage, kids, life- Project life is PERFECTION Becky!! Thank you for sharing your talents and amazing intuation about how to make this easier for all of us!!! XO PS- I know you said there will be plenty- but I’m checking for updates every minute bc I can’t wait to get the big pack of plastic sheets and the new Olive edition in my hands!! :)

  31. Kim says:

That’s awesome! I think these would make a great shower gift.

  32. shannon j says:

Becky, will there be digital “kits” on Shutterfly for the childhood editions?

  33. Katie D. says:

I just downloaded the Mayfield and Wellington editions (I have all girls but just loved the Wellington too much to pass it up!) and I cannot wait to get started! I absolutely can’t believe how much thought and attention to detail went into these little kits. They are AWESOME!!!

  34. Janelle says:

Cool to see the childhood kit in regular A’s too, although I’d love to see a few more pages if the mini albums with them :)

  35. [...] and my weekly instgram photo collage. this is a sweet thing quinn said and some photos of the project life childhood mini-kit that becky sent me so that i could make some pages for quinn (see my pages here) and a photo of my [...]

  36. Marygail says:

Thank you so much for the childhood kits!!! These will get my started on my long awaited school albums. I just placed an order and can’t wait to get them.

I was wondering if you were planning on creating more editions of the childhood kits in the future. I have four kids, with three in school currently. My youngest won’t be in school for another 3 more years so fingers crossed you’ll have more editions by the time she starts.

Keep up the good work :)
