As usual with the monthly offering of inspiration, I will share just one glimpse from each of their respective Project Life albums. And then – whenever and wherever you want to see more – just click on the person’s name and it will take you to their blog where they each share more details, more information, more pages, more examples of how they’re using Project Life as a memory-keeping system. If someone’s style “speaks” to you, you’ll want to check out the additional pictures and explanations on her blog.
We completely adore how each person’s style is so unique – in photography, with their journaling, and how they bring it all together in their albums. As you see how others are doing Project Life, our hope is that you will feel an increased desire to document life, and that you’ll be more in tune with what your own personal style is. No matter how you slice it, it’s all good. It’s your story. This post is loaded with eye candy. We don’t mean to overwhelm you. We simply want you to be inspired in your own memory-keeping efforts.
This month we challenged our team members to keep things ultra simple to remind you that you really can create an entire scrapbook with the 3 core Project Life components and nothing else. Album + Project Life Core Kit + Big Pack of Photo Pocket Pages. That’s it. If you’re looking for more inspiration on using Project Life in the most simple format ever (that is, no extra embellishing) – check out the sample albums on our Inspiration page.

This Saturday, May 4th, is National Scrapbooking Day!
I’ll be honest: In my nearly 20 years of being a part of this industry, I have no idea when this holiday was made up, or who started it, or if it’s supposed to be National Scrapbook (or Scrapbooking?) Day … or wouldn’t be International instead of just National? Oh, who knows? And really … it doesn’t matter! Right? : )
This is what matters: A lot of us in this hobby – and in this industry – recognize the first Saturday in May as a holiday that we celebrate the hobby we LOVE! So in honor of National Scrapbooking Day we whipped up a little something special for you.
This video is a collection of favorite Project Life pages, photo tips, and organizational ideas from our very own 2013 Creative Team – who, as you may know, are scattered across the globe! The short video is missing just a few girls who were unable to participate because of various circumstances, but we love ALL of our Creative Team – and we think you’ll enjoy putting faces + names together … and being inspired by their tips.

So … tell me … are you doing anything special for Scrapbooking Day? Do you have any favorite Project Life tips or organizational ideas to share?

Last weekend I checked off a huge to-do on my never-ending list: I completed our 2012 family yearbook! As you may remember, I do our family yearbooks in the photo book format on Shutterfly and make a copy for us as well as each of our 3 kids. I seriously can not wait to get that package in the mail.
As we announced yesterday, there are now 3 additional Project Life editions available on Shutterfly – yippee! Today we wanted to share with you some sample pages from a couple of our Creative Team members.
Dunia Acauan made quick work of this gorgeous photo book by using the newly-available Bridgeport Edition. By adding little more than her photos, she has a spectacular keepsake of their time at the beach.
She notes of her experience: I made this album from our “Carnival Holiday” on the beach. I didn’t want to have those photos only in my computer but I didn’t want to spend a lot of time making a photo book from them. That’s why I love to make albums with Shutterfly – especially now that we have amazing pre-made photo books like the Bridgeport Edition that I used in this album. Just fill the book with your photos and it’s ready! Simple and amazing! If you want something more personalized you also can add or change the background, embellishments, text and change the layout of your pages (I did that with a couple of pages). Another amazing thing about Shutterfly (for international customers like me) it’s that they ship your album to most countries with a very reasonable shipping price.

Dunia’s cover (above)

Leena Loh also created a few pages using the new Olive Edition:
If you have Project Life layouts you’ve created in Shutterfly, we’d love to see what you’re doing with our designs! Anyone is welcome to submit their pages to submissions@beckyhiggins.com, any time.

Creative Team member Teresa Victor – typically a digital scrapbooker – took one of our Mini Albums and other Project Life goodies that she already had on hand and quickly created an album to record her memories of their honeymoon from several years ago. She shares:
A few years ago, I printed out several dozen photos from our 2007 honeymoon to Riviera Maya and Walt Disney World to take with me to a Creating Keepsakes Convention. While it was a fun learning experience, as a digi-girl, I became overwhelmed with product choices and ideas and ultimately, those photos remained in an envelope in my office for years. Last night, it finally hit me these photos were perfect for my Rain Mini Album.
Armed with my Seafoam Core Kit and “soon-to-be in stores” 03 Project Life Journaling Pens in brown and black (yay for HSN!), I camped out in front of the TV watching DVR recordings of Modern Family and set to work. Two hours later, using just the very basics of the Project Life system (plus one Studio Calico wood veneer airplane + AC Foam Thickers) … a Mini Album of a few favorite photos from our honeymoon was complete … journaling and all.

Looking for a great way to store all of your tried & true recipes? Mini Album to the rescue! Creative Team member Ashley Bennett shared her approach for putting together a beautiful album of her favorites using the Midnight Mini Album and Olive Edition of Project Life.
Ashley shares:
Growing up I loved to bake and cook with my Mom and Grandma. I would sift through their recipe boxes and see the recipes written in their own handwriting. It was neat to see their notes written in the margins of their cookbooks. It’s amazing to me what memories are brought to mind from reading a few simple ingredients.
I have a lot of cookbooks but seem to use the same few over and over. I also print out recipes from Pinterest, write them down on tiny scraps of paper and tuck them into whichever book is closest! When I saw Becky’s mini albums I knew I wanted to use them for my own recipe book to have a place to compile my very favorite recipes with a few photos.
To get started, I sorted through the cards and typed up a few of my go to recipes. I plan to have a small title card at the beginning of each category, followed by recipes printed or handwritten onto the Olive Edition cards. I love the versatility of the cards and the option I have to add details as the years go by. I am excited to have this ongoing project that I can work on occasionally when I feel inspired.
What sets this recipe book apart from all of my other cook books are the photos I’ve included that capture the memories of us, together in the kitchen.

Creative Team member Rebecca Cooper has a love for quotes and a passion for keeping things simple. She chose our Midnight Mini Album (20% off thru April 5) and created a beautiful quote book filled with some of her favorites that she has collected over the years. By using a mix of Project Life cards and printed cards that she created, she’s compiling an album that will continue grow for years to come!

In Rebecca’s own words:
I’m an avid quote collector and a few years ago I had high hopes of finally getting my collection organized into one place. I had quotes everywhere – jotted down on scrap pieces of paper, recorded in my day planner + pinned on Pinterest! Now thanks to the Project Life mini albums I’m happy to say all my quotes will finally have a home!
I began creating some simple printables of my favorite quotes back in 2011 imagining that I’d print them out + put them all into a photo album someday. I never did find the perfect album + the project got put on the back burner until I saw the new Project Life mini albums and I just knew they’d be perfect for my little album of quotes.
You can take a peek at the page spreads I have in my favorite quotes album so far. There’s no theme to the quotes on each pages, it’s an eclectic mix of topics + colors. I plan to use a mixture of my printable quotes + leftover project life cards that don’t find a home in my other albums. I realize now that creating printables for ALL of my favorite quotes wasn’t a realistic plan but writing or printing them out quickly on project life cards that are ready to place directly into this fun little album has been quick, easy + fun!
NOTE: The Project Life cards you see journaled on in the album so far are from the Baby Edition.
For now I’ll be playing catchup + adding quotes I already have collected but I’m really excited that as soon as I find a new quote I’ll have a place to put it! Jotting down quotes on Project Life cards and adding them directly to my album – skipping the middle step of recording it on a scrap piece of paper and promptly losing it – is going to be so great! I will be keeping things as quick + simple as possible when updating this album. I’m not worrying about a color scheme, I’m not worrying about design – its all about recording my favorite quotes and getting them all in one spot where I can easily find them and where others can read and be inspired!

Stop by Rebecca’s blog for lots of creative eye candy, great photography, and more info on how you can print some of her favorite quotes for yourself!

Creative Team member Petra Corcoran recently took a crazy fun road trip with her family and chose one of our new Mini Albums (Midnight) and Childhood Mini Kits (Wellington Edition) to document her journey. Her mix of gorgeous photography to capture the details of their trip, maps to document their mileage and daily travel, and journaling to record their adventures, all add up to a lasting keepsake of a trip that their family will always remember. Here is a bit of the story and details in Petra’s own words.
…..
Since moving to Brisbane, almost 2 years ago now, life has been busy and we have not had a real holiday as a family. We finally planned to have one just after Christmas last year.
My husband always says the best way to really see the country is to drive it – to get out there and see and experience all those far away places not just the tourist strips. So the plan was set. A route covering some 3600km (2200 miles) heading far North West and then across to the coast in the East. We were told we were crazy. “It’s too hot and not tourist season where you’re going.” Perfect. Let’s go.
Album cover. Clean & Simple.
…..
I took this photo during the trip by laying in the middle of the highway while hubby was spotting for cars! I have always wanted to do this and love the way it sets the scene for the album.
…..
The start of the trip. I decided up front to use my iphone to map each route and distance and took a screen shot at the start of our drive each day. All my journalling is printed directly onto the kit cards.
…..
A few points along the way from day one. I like to balance my pictures with a fair bit of journalling. It was great to get to our campsite, put the tent up for the first time and hop in.
…..
This is where we stayed our first night. We met a cat named Puddy who was a resident at the caravan park. The kids fell in love with him instantly.
…..
Taking in all the little details at stops along the way – driving day two.
…..
Campsite in Longreach. This was a really big tourist park but was totally empty. It was at this point the advice we received about the time of year to travel out here really hit home. We took a swim in the park pool and it only took a few minutes for all the wet stuff to be bone dry! I love photographing the stuff you may forget. (Journalling yet to come on this page)
…..
Up early again we were heading deep West now to Lark Quarry to see fossilised dinosaur footprints. I used this layout to include the ticket we purchased to the footprints. I love keeping & including little bits like that.
…..
The heat at the quarry was something else. And I love how this layout starts with a picture of Mackenzie looking up, listening with her face glistening with sweat. Our tour guide was a truly lovely old man so I had to include him as the kids loved listening to him and discussing dinosaurs. This is what I tried to capture.
…..
Still at the quarry hunting for fossils. Calvin & Mackenzie just standing with the hot wind blowing this picture needs no words.
…..
Our car fridge broke down, the water smelled REAL bad so no showers & it was new years eve but we were together and that’s all that really mattered.
…..
Our dinosaur hunt continues and we’re back on the road. Sometimes the best laid plans fail but you make do, even if you have to have SPAM for dinner.
…..
We arrive in Townsville – sun, sand & Bbeach. One country yet such incredible contrasts. I love Australia.
…..
Our friends at Crafthouse (they’ve been getting our products into customers’ hands Down Under for a while now) were so excited to hear about Petra’s album that they are having a special sale just for their customers in Australia and New Zealand! From now until March 4th, receive 20% off when you purchase both a Mini Album and Childhood Mini Kit (your choice of Mini Album color and Mini Kit Edition) – heck, YES! Take advantage of the sale HERE.
While you’re there you can also pre-order all of the products that are coming in late April. We are also excited to let you know that Crafthouse will be at the Melbourne Scrapbooking & Craft Show from March 1-3. They will have samples on hand of the new products arriving later this spring and will be offering a variety of promotions during the show. Stop by to see them if you have a chance!
As for those of you reading this who are NOT in New Zealand or Australia, but you’re inspired to do a Mini Album project and motivated by a sale … we will eventually run a sale on Amazon.com but sales are very far & few between on Project Life products. We don’t know when we’ll do that just yet. When we do, we’ll give you a heads-up ahead of time so you can plan, but for now – don’t count on it happening at any particular time. Thank you Petra for sharing your Mini Album!
