If anyone would be the master at helping others to understand how to use the digital Project Life templates that are available on JessicaSprague.com, who would that be? Uh, yeah. Jessica Sprague. Well guess what? Jessica whipped up a little video tutorial out of the goodness of her heart and I think you’ll fine it really helpful. Check it out HERE.

I put together a little collection of personal photos to share on Shutterfly, hoping to inspire others to document the everyday. You can check that out HERE.

Most of you know that Ali Edwards creates some of the best digital templates and many of them go so perfectly as an add-on to Project Life. She recently added templates specific for the 6×12 Page Protector (currently sold out but available again in a few weeks) and also shared a video tutorial for working with the layered templates. You’ll find all of that HERE.

My parents are in town visiting us this week (which means we’re eating a lot of Mom’s chocolate chip cookies). We are very grateful to be spending time with family and friends. We are also so very grateful to you, our devoted friends/readers/customers. Thank you for your enthusiasm and loyalty.

Most of all, I’m so thankful that most of you are committed to documenting life and recording your story. That’s just the coolest thing ever and I love you for it.

See you on Black Friday!

giveaway: somerset memories

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Somerset Memories is a publication devoted to the artistic display of memories. I’m kind of blown away by the artistic talent that is featured in the pages of this magazine. I never thought I’d see Project Life in such a publication, only because Project Life is so simple. Sure enough, the editors at Somerset Memories saw what Ali Edwards was doing with her own personal Project Life and they invited her to write a feature story on the project.

I know I’ve said it before but I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Ali. I am so thankful that she has – without solicitation – adopted Project Life as one of the key ways she collects, organizes, displays, and celebrates the everyday in her own family’s life. She willingly shares her weekly layouts on her blog. She is a huge supporter and I love her for that. If you are new to Project Life or are seeking inspiration on how you want to preserve your pictures + memories, I would definitely suggest this: Curl up with your laptop and your favorite blanket and check out Ali’s series of Project Life blog posts.

Far more importantly, I love Ali for the woman that she is. Like most of us, she works hard to maintain a healthy balance in life. She struggles through difficult times like everyone else. And yet – she carves out time to offer inspiration. She shares so much of herself which in turn has been a huge blessing to so many people in so many ways – including myself and many of you.

So thank you Ali. For being you. For being amazing. We all love you.

Dang it. I’m not supposed to get choked up while writing a giveaway blog post. That’s ridiculousness. Onward! Okay, so the wonderful people at Somerset Memories would like to giveaway a copy of this Autumn issue to FIVE of my readers. All you need to do is leave your first name + city + state/country. Should you feel inclined to include a little shout-out to Ali, expressing thanks for perhaps how she has inspired you, go right ahead. I would love for her to read through the comments and feel a big giant hug from us today.

We will select 5 random comments and announce those winners later this week.

inspired. and another giveaway.

Okay, so seriously. Seriously you’d think I have drummed up some sort of Project Life Dream Team or something. While that actually sounds like a terrific idea — Hmmm. I’ll tuck that away for later. — I am realizing over and over again that there are just amazing and talented and GOOD people out there. Everywhere.

And today I’d like to share a few of them with you. Maybe they’re familiar to you. Maybe not. Either way, they each have really fantastic Project Life ideas to share. And that’s just what they’ve been doing on each of their respective blogs. They each explain their individual approach to the project. I didn’t ask them to; They’re just awesome like that.

And that, of course, is the key to Project Life. Which is … approach it the way you want to. Make the project adapt to you. Have a look at these very inspiring articles by clicking on the links. And if you’ve done something similar (thank you!), feel free to leave a comment with a link to your blog too.

Un-related to Project Life, but I’m super excited for Becki Crosby and her “baby”. She’s put a lot of hard work into making her vision a reality. Did you hear about Whippy Cake’s newly-launched website and the new product line of deliciously tempting accessories? I’m loving. You’ve gotta check it out.

Oh, and pssst. While you’re there you must click on her BLOG because guess what? Yep — It’s a Project Life Giveaway. Enter to win! In the meantime, I’ve got my eye on the “muffy”. Aaaand a few others.

thank you.

Thank you for the most genuine, kind, heartfelt comments on yesterday’s blog post. I am so grateful that video “spoke” to so many of you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me, and tell me how you were touched, and how you feel motivated to move forward with documenting your life in 2011.

Thank you for all the kindness & feedback on all of the videos that were a part of my 12 Videos of Christmas series.

Thank you to Charlene, a fellow blog reader who happily and eagerly volunteered to do all the transcriptions for the videos so that no one missed out on anything that was said. I know several of you benefitted & are grateful too. (This is Charlene with her hubby.)

Thank you for your patience. We’re just about ready with the new web forms, in case you having any missing or damaged items. We’re also really close the arrival of the Journaling Cards & the Divided Photo Pocket Pages sold as additional items outside the kits. These are scheduled to arrive at Amazon the first of next week. I know some of you are waiting for these additional items so you can purchase with the kit, to save on shipping (which is smart).

Thank you for all the Project Life SHARING that’s going on — between you & your friends, the mentions on your blogs, the conversations with family members, and especially over at the Project Life Community, where there is a lot of great idea-sharing.

Thank you for all the Project Life glamour shots you’re sending in. Loving these. Will be sharing more. (Anyone can submit their picture anytime you want. Email it to projectlife@beckyhiggins.com.)

Yes, that’s Ali Edwards (top, center). This will be her second year doing Project Life and I’m honored that she has made it a part of her life-documenting journey, like so many of you. Anyone who knows Ali knows she’s an incredible example of telling stories & documenting life.

If you’re interested getting a peek at Ali’s 2010 Project Life, click HERE. She will likely be sharing her plan for 2011 soon.

If you’re interested in Kelly Willette’s plans for Project Life, click HERE. She’s a super talented photographer & designer.

I know I’m just scratching the surface here. Again, I’m so grateful to all of you who are blogging about your plans for Project Life. Please feel free to share a link to your blog post if you’ve done something similar. You know how I feel about inspiring each other.

cool stuff.

1. Have you heard of the Magic Bullet? Very cool. We got ours at Costco and have officially become fans. Every morning I enjoy a smoothie made of frozen berries, exactly 5 pieces of ice, a little water, fresh spinach, vanilla protein powder, and a dropper full of vanilla Stevia (it’s a natural sweetener). Way delish. Completely healthy. And I can make it as fast as pouring a bowl of cold cereal.

PS – Yeah, I kind of broke up with Raisin Bran. I know. Shocking. Actually, we’re just on a break. We’ll see each other again, but only once in a blue moon.

2. Ali Edwards is doing a very cool “Week in the Life” project right now. Another really fantastic way to document life. Most of us are on some sort of quest to try to document in our life as best we can. Project Life, A Week in the Life, some other system of scrapbooking or memory keeping or documenting. Whatever you’re doing, head on over to Ali’s blog for some fantastic everyday photography inspiration.

3. Have dry skin? I’ve been noticing my hands to be extra dry lately. You? For years I’ve been using Aquaphor ointment on my feet at night. I slather it on my feet, wrap them in plastic bags, put socks on to hold it all in place. No, not every night. Yes, it’s very attractive. And I wake up with amazingly soft feet. So anyway, the other night my hands were especially dry. I rubbed some Aquaphor only on the backs of my hands and it totally healed my skin overnight. Very cool. I will be doing this more often.
