winner + thought for today

Wednesday, March 14th, 2012

Hey, guess what? We have a randomly selected winner from yesterday’s giveaway! Congratulations to Ségolène in Brussels, Belgium! Shoot an email to kerribradford@msn.com and she’ll hook you up with a free seat in her new class!

…..

This is my random thought for you today – straight from the pages of Live Good. I love this little book. It’s a habit for many of us to walk in a hurry, keep our heads down, and definitely keep to ourselves on the elevator. I get that. Don’t talk to strangers, right?

Here’s the thing. You have the power to turn someone’s day around. I’m not saying we should all go out of our way to make a BFF out of the person behind us in the checkout line at Target. But would it hurt to just turn around and smile? Would it hurt to keep our head up and offer a simple, genuine “hello” to those that we pass on the sidewalk, instead of watching the ground? Could we make more of an effort simply say hi to those we know – and those we don’t?

I think it’s a good idea and I’m going to work on that myself.

Part of cultivating a good life is being the first to say Hello.

project life giveaway: winner #5

Today I’m pleased to announce yet another winner … our final winner of this week’s big giveaway. Congratulations to Jane Logan! Jane, email projectlife@beckyhiggins.com and we’ll hook you up with the Project Life edition of your choice. Jane wrote:

I am trying to cultivate a good life by reducing the debt in our lives and to live within our means so that we can give to those in need without having to worry about how it will effect our day to day household. No more credit cards, cash for all, and consciously thinking about where every cent is going. I am hoping this will change the way my children think about the riches bestowed upon them and not grow up with a bad case of affluenza. Thank you Becky for always inspiring. Who would think that a post about Justin Bieber would end up with comments like these!

You’re right, Jane. Who would have thought!? Again, thank you to everyone who commented on what it means to cultivate a good life. What an uplifting week it has been to read about so much goodness in you … and in the world.

project life giveaway: winner #1

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Yesterday I asked — What does it mean to you, to “cultivate a good life”? What is one of your dreams or passions or something you’re working toward? Your comments are flooding in. And I am overwhelmed with gratitude for your sharing. Your example. Your diligence in cultivating a good life so that you can bless those around you.

I also promised I would giveaway a Project Life kit to a reader every day of this this week. Today I am pleased to announce the first randomly-selected reader. Tune in every day this week to find out who the other winners will be! Anyone is welcome to add their comments to that post & enter for a chance to win all week long.

Congratulations to Katie E. in Oklahoma! She wrote: I did [Project Life in] its introductory year and my family found that cultivating a good life meant to us expressing our gratitude for the things and relationships in our life. No, we don’t have a ton of money but we found that we were rich beyond measure as we photographed our life and expressed in the journaling cards our gratitude for what we do have!! Thank you for your blog – I’m inspired by it to be a better person, mother and member of the world at large!

Katie, drop me a line at projectlife@beckyhiggins.com and let me know if you want the Amber Edition, the Turquoise Edition, or the digital version of Project Life. Your wish is my command.

you’re amazing.

When I announced on Tuesday that I was giving away a set of 40 handmade cards to someone, I didn’t expect nearly 600 entries, most of which were on behalf of a wonderful cause. I am deeply touched with how involved and concerned you are with various organizations and fundraisers that bless individuals and families.

For those of you directly involved causes in any way, bless you. My heart is always warmed to see people reaching out to help one another. Serving others results in an unmatchable feeling and increased love. There is most definitely a need for this now more than ever. We need to continually lift one another, build each other up, and look for ways to serve others. Always.

Life is too precious, too short for negativity. May we resist urges to criticize, gossip, belittle, and assume things about people too quickly. Instead may we continually seek to do good and speak kindly about one another. I already knew my readers were awesome. It is now even more clear to me how good you are. I love you for that.

……….

So who is getting those 40 cards? Let me just say it’s a good thing I wasn’t choosing based on who “should” get them, because there were far too many wonderful causes. So … congratulations to Amy Sorden, who was randomly selected.

Amy said: I would love to win these BEAUTIFUL cards ! I have the perfect place for them….you see, there is a 5 year old little girl in our community that was recently diagnosed with leukemia. Her name is Aly and we are having an all day breakfast, lunch, and supper benefit for her, along with a bidding auction and a silent auction. We are trying to raise funds for her family as they have to travel for her medical needs, let alone all of her medical bills that have piled up. This is a very sweet family with 5 children who needs our community support. I think these cards would and could bring in some money for a great cause! Please pray for little Aly! She IS a fighter! Thank you in advance for your consideration!

Amy, I will pray for Aly. With close friends and family members that have had Leukemia, we too have been affected by this. I will happily send you these cards for your efforts in helping Aly’s family raise money. Send an email to projectlife@beckyhiggins.com with your mailing address and I’ll hook you up!

We’re getting sooo close. While I don’t have an exact date that the new products will become available, I want to share with you what we do know. And that is that we’re working really hard to ensure that the stuff arrives to Amazon by the end of this week. If everything goes smoothly, that will happen. And I will provide updates via this blog and eBlast and twitter and facebook. If you’re subscribing to any of my feed, you will know when the products become available.

I know many of you are thinking … Christmas. If you are at all concerned about getting your stuff in time for Christmas my strong recommendation would be to order the day the product is released and don’t put it off. We don’t have a crystal ball and we don’t have any way of knowing whether or not kits will sell out straight away. If they do … you should know that we have another batch of kits coming in about a week or so after this first batch.

I have answered a lot of Project Life questions lately. I want you to feel informed. If you happened to miss any of that information, here are some links.

Click HERE for a Sneak Peek video of the new products.

Click HERE for a collection of questions and answers … AND a lot of detail shots of the products.

Click HERE if you care about cool packaging.

Click HERE for the Project Life community where fellow Project Life users are sharing ideas.

If you have a burning question that I’ve missed, please leave a comment and I’ll do my best to address more questions as the week goes on. In the meantime, more videos in our 12 Videos of Christmas series are on their way.  : )

Thank you for that.
