project life : the title page

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Many of you are making preparations to begin a new Project Life album for 2012 – or at least you’re thinking about it. Even if you’re taking a non-chronological approach and creating an album with your childhood pictures, your wedding, travels, or whatever … every album begins with a title page.

If you don’t want to have to think about “designing” a title page, we’ve got you covered. Every Project Life Core Kit includes all the designer 4×6 and 3×4 cards you need to drop in the pockets and that’s all you need to do.

{ From the Clementine Edition }

 In fact – you’ll notice that we even printed a little “map” on the back of those specific cards (title page and last page) so you can see a suggested placement idea, leaving out all the guesswork. It doesn’t get simpler than that.

However …

I know many of you want to do something more personal, more specific, more custom. So today I’m sharing some title page inspiration from our very own Creative Team. Some of them even implemented additional products from their stash of supplies, resulting in a perfectly customized style that is unique to their album.

Cathy will be the first to tell you, like many of us, that she is crazy about the 6×12 Page Protectors and wanted this to be the opening page to her 2012 album. She designed this 6×12 title page and … guess what? She is graciously sharing the template with my readers for FREE … in case you’re feeling inspired to do something similar. Obviously using a favorite coordinating Project Life digital paper would be awesome and you could customize it however you’d like.

In fact, here is the link to the free font Cathy used in the PSD files: Museo Slab 500.

A few quick examples using the templates + digital Project Life papers:

{ Left page use a paper from the digital Amber Collection + the CK Becky font. Link to this free font is at the very bottom of the Free Stuff sidebar. Center + right pages use papers from the digital Cobalt Collection }

FYI: There are two other products Cathy released, also with 6 x 12 page protectors in mind. One for weekly recap journaling that needs more space. One for photo collages. Click on either one of those links to see more or purchase.

One last idea, and this comes from a reader (I’m sorry I don’t have her name but be sure to claim this idea in the comments if you were the one that shared it). She says: I have an idea I’m planning on using for my next Project Life title page. Take a photo of the front of your family home in each season – winter with snow on the ground, spring as it greens up and everything is blooming, summer (for us the last couple years, that means sunburned grass!), and fall with leaves turning colors. Take it from the same spot each time and it is a great representation of how different your house looks over the course of a year.
