mom's chocolate chip cookies

I don't know that I need to say more. They're Mom's cookies, so they're the best. My mom is known for a few things. Counted cross-stitching is one of them. Chocolate chip cookies is another. And it's no wonder. Everyone loves them. And she makes them all the time. For all sorts of occasions. For every occasion.

MOM'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES

2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter (not margarine)
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts
12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Mix thoroughly first 6 ingredients. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop on ungreased baking stone. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees. This is a single recipe which makes about 7 dozen. Mom always makes a double batch.

I always make a double batch, too, and freeze the extra dough in little balls on a cookie sheet. Then throw them in a bag when they're frozen and always have homemade cookies ready in a flash!

I am also known for a few things...I wish it was something daring but that is not so. I am a very good baker I think it's because I truely love it but that means I am ALWAYS on the look out for the perfect choc chip cookie. This one has the look I strive for, lumpy & full, not flat. Hey that sounds like Me!!
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. I used it over the holidays, and the cookies turned out beautifully. Rave reviews all around. The taste was wonderful but what I loved most was that they stayed full and didn't flatten completely like a certain famous recipe that I always use does. Thanks again!

I can't wait to try them out, I've been looking for a recipe that keeps the cookies large and moist and not flat! Will make them this weekend!
Thanks for the recipe!

I have almost the exact same recipe. My mom was not a cookie-maker, so I had to learn on my own. Cookies are the best.
